Description: Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant, located in the quiet village of Volcano, sits on 5 acres of gardens and gazebos and native forest. This hotel restaurant features a large fireplace, local art, koa tables, and is open nightly. Chef/owner Albert Jeyte blends flavors from his European background with farm, ranch and seafood products from Hawaii, the surrounding Pacific and elsewhere. Volcano Village is at 3700 feet elevation and evenings are often cool and misty. The historic fireplace welcomes guests with it's cheery fire. Home made soups and breads tease the appetite. Albert specializes in unusual game...venison, antelope, rabbit, duck. The biggest sellers are local fish dishes; ahi, ono, mahimahi and the exotic Tristan lobster. A large wine list complements the eclectic menu.

“Outstanding food, service, and ambience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014

The menu is European, with things like rabbit, antelope and lamb offered. The soups are always wonderful, and basic dinner salad is made with fresh greens locally grown. Appetizers are large, so if you order a soup and salad (one comes with your meal), the entree is more than enough food. The pricing is high, but the quality of the food and service is so outstanding that it is really a bargain. The setting is in the woods with a lovely entry and large fireplace. It really is the perfect place for a romantic meal and the wine list is extensive with reasonably priced wines available. We have eaten here many times and have never had a bad meal. The lamb is my favorite but my husband loves both the antelope and rabbit dishes. The seafood is also very good.

“Great food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

Our family went here to celebrate my father's birthday. All of our meals were great, service was friendly but not overbearing and they brought my dad a free dessert and sang Happy Birthday to him. It made for a fun night.

Only recommendation of a friend on Oahu we enjoyed a fine meal with excellent service. It is costly but worth it. We enjoyed lunch so much we came back for dinner.

“A mixed experience”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

We were so looking forward to our last dinner on the island at this restaurant as it had come so highly recommended. We did make dinner reservations which i would recommend and enjoyed the feel of the place - there is lots of wonderful art by Hawaiians displayed around the place that was a nice addition. Our waitress was friendly and helpful and the menu looked interesting. Two of us shared the escargot appetizer (mediocre) and the boneless duck (very good) and antelope steak (nothing special). The other member of our party got the "catch of the day" which was ahi tuna w/ papaya and it was totally bland - and very disappointing for $30. On a positive note, however, we split a macadamia nut torte that was SUPERB!!
