“Serene and Comfortable”

We stayed here for two nights at the end of our honeymoon. The property is a tranquil rainforest retreat, and Mr. Kim is a fantastic host! We stayed in the beautifully decorated Korean style room: luxurious bedding and comfortable bed, gas stove, jacuzzi tub. Breakfast was fresh and beautifuly presented. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet get away!

It's not often that challenges me for meticulous detail, but John, the owner and operator of the Lotus Garden Cottages puts his full attention into each detail. Very clean, very quiet, delicious handcrafted breakfast, Lotus is a cozy piece of perfection. I highly recommend Lotus for people who like piece and quiet, and an occasional impromptu violin performance from John himself. Very special experience.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the Aloha room because that's my favorite and I don't want it to be booked...

We were quite disappointed as we expected a nicer place, given that we paid 195$. The place is not worth the price. We experienced much nicer rooms and much more hospitaly at every other hotel or b&b in that price category. There's a lot of clutter all over the place, not a "zen garden" see the pictures. We stayed in the Hula Moon cottage; it's not really private as you have to close ever curtain so that not verybody how passes by can seee directly right on your bed. Demand in Volcano seems to be so high that b&b owners don't have to care much. The national park is great be we wounld not come back and stay in this cottage; given that Volcano is so expensive, we would rather drive a bit more and find a better place to stay.

Mr. John Kim has a great property and his hospitality is top notch! The breakfast delivered each morning was outstanding and prepared with care. Great place to stay in Volcano and nice break from hotels while traveling through the islands.

Truly felt like we were home and enjoyed being up in the mountains. Mr. Kim has a cat named Chu Chu that came around each morning to say hi that we enjoyed seeing

Will definitely return

We stayed here for two nights while visiting the area. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the breakfast delicious, and the host friendly and welcoming. We would have stayed here another two or three nights if we had the opportunity. It's a short drive to Volcanoes Park and the jacuzzi is wonderful after a long day of hiking.

We stayed one night in the Aloha room. The accommodations were clean and we had a small kitchen, too. The multiple tall windows and high ceiling made it feel spacious yet comfortable with a rain forest treehouse atmosphere. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of fruit, pastries, egg sandwiches, and fresh juice.
Also, it is about two miles down highway 11 to reach the Volcano park, which makes the location excellent.
The only drawback is the parking. You must park by the street and carry your bags down the gravel driveway and then up a flight of stairs. Lucky my husband is strong!

We do not normally stay at B&Bs but this was a wonderful place. A unique property with plenty of character. Breakfasts were a delightful surprise each day, wonderfully presented and kept us going. The owner (John) was unobtrusive but very helpful when we asked for advice/help. Location was about 5 minute drive to the national park and surrounded by an amazing garden. Would highly recommend. Only negative was the slow speed of the internet connection (Lava Rock Cafe on Old Volcano Road had a much faster connection).
ps they have a very cute cat!
