This was our third stay at Kilauea Lodge. We find it is quite nice and also has a great dining opportunity.

The lodge is easy enough to find, but it does require a key turn. At $215/nt. our room #10 is not cheap, but this is Volcano. Our room is upstairs (no elevator), and proves difficult for me this trip, given my hip issue. This building's units share a common "living room", but each unit is individually secured by a key lock. The unit is not new, but is well maintained. The bed is excellent. It has Robes, extra blankets, heat, and plenty of towels. No A/c, but several windows can be opened. There is plenty of storage in the unit for longer stays, lots of open space and good lighting. The water pressure is good, with near instant hot water. Lots of special touches await you. The views are of the gardens. The grounds include a hot tub, gazebo and garden walks. The rate includes a full table service breakfast from the menu, including coffee and juice!

Part of the reason to stay here is the "special nature" of the place. Sort of hard to write. My wife's birthday was yesterday, but we waited to celebrate it tonight in the Lodge's Restaurant. When we went to dinner, our table, with balloons awaited us. The menu acknowledged Leslie's birthday, for all to see. Dinner was followed by a birthday desert and a serenading by the staff. Starters run $5-10. Dessert is $6.75. About 10 Entrees are on the menu ranging from $22-38. A couple specials were also offered, with a serious increase in price. Each entrée came with a suggested wine paring. A split plate charge is $10. I had the prime rib, which was about 9 ounces, more that I usually eat. Leslie had the Seafood platter on a bed of spaghetti. It had shrimp, scallops, peppers, mushrooms to name a couple of the inclusions. Wines ran from $30-75. Our dinner ran about $120, a price we almost never pay, but we glad to in this case. This is not hash house, they do serious cooking here!

This stay is a bit of a splurge, but it is a great place to stay and puts you right near all the attractions in the Park after breakfast. Unfortunately, the Government shutdown limited this most wonder experience, and we headed to Hilo after breakfast.

Room Tip: Pick a building and room to meet your groups needs.

I booked this place pretty much solely on Trip Advisor reviews and I am so glad I did. We loved it! We stayed in the Hideway Cottage and it was perfect. The grounds are beautiful and secluded and we loved seeing the resident kitties around outside. It felt very private and was only 5 minutes away from the HVNP. We had dinner one night at the Lodge and it was SO GOOD! Ask for their famous "Margaritas". It is one of the best drinks I have ever had. We also had the free breakfast there two mornings which was equally as good. Suzy was an awesome server! Everyone we encountered was nice and we had no problem with the cottage. Loved it - would totally stay there again!

This definitely has a lodge feel to it, so don't expect a luxurious resort, but the rooms were clean and comfortable, the atmosphere was exactly what I was hoping for, and the food was excellent. The location is great, and the staff was so nice and helpful.

We stayed here on September 26 & 27 in the cottage closest to the lodge and it was absolutely fantastic. It exceeded our expectations! It was luxurious, comfortable, and spa-like with 3 rooms; bedroom, bath, front room with fireplace, and a porch to sit outside on. The grounds are stunning and the birds sing you songs all day long in the rain forest. The restaurant was great and the breakfast that comes with was filling and delicious. We also had dinner there and the servers are wonderful. The gift shop has unique boutique-type items that we didn't find elsewhere on the island so be sure to pick something up if you like it. The Volcano Park is only about a mile from this lodge. We'd definitely stay here again.

Stayed there on a whim but was totally impressed. The room was cozy with a nice gas fireplace. We ate at the restaurant which was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and wonderful. The breakfast was also awesome. The common room had many different things to do. Can't wait to go back there again!!
