We used a family member's timeshare points to stay here. One thing you need to keep in mind is that these are condos and some or all are privately owned and managed by the resort. So the decor and furnishings will depend on the owner. Of course there are standards if the owner wants to rent their unit out so you should expect a well maintained and clean condo. This also means they don't clean daily, expect a cleaning once or twice a week (and before u check in of course). PROS: We used a timeshare but I just checked and the rate at this time for some week in July (it's May now) from now is $139 a night. Compare this to $399 for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, or even $179 for Waikoloa Beach Marriot. The tradeoff is being 7 to 20 minutes from the best white sand beaches in the Big Island as opposed to on the beach. Our unit was very well maintained and clean and spacious. Everything worked well and we cooked breakfast each morning and ate on the deck overlooking the gold course. The resort will rent you beach supplies including toys and snorkeling equipment so check with them before you raid Walmart in Kona.
