We stayed here two nights at the end of our 2 week journey on the big island and wished we had stayed a lot longer. Nothing beats the access to this clean, beautiful beach. The rooms are so quaint and the private outdoor showers are amazing. I do believe this is the best place on the island to see a sunset too. We also enjoyed the staff very much - the house keeper, Marlo, is a doll!

Meant to write this for months. We stayed 4 nights in July 2013. We were visiting family in Kona and stayed here for the first part of the trip to get some beach time with the kids. Individual villas built ON the sand doesn't get better for a beach vacation. The villas were modern, spacious, well decorated and just plain fun. It was my husband, 2 small kids and myself. Everyone loved the outdoor shower area, especially nice to get e kids an initial hose down before going inside - lots of sand stayed outside, not in!

We walked along the beach & explored most AM's. We walked up the beach to the larger hotel and took the kids on a glass bottom boat ride another morning. I think that trip was free because we were guests at Lava Lava.

We ate most of our meals at Lava Lava, the food was very good. We had several family member come visit us in the villa because we were staying in the nicest place. The restaurant easily accommodated our groups and did a fantastic job with dinner on our last night and we had 15 people at our dinner table.

Our whole family loved the live music and especially the hula dancing. My kids loved it so much, we had to find hula at other places in Kona. The kids enjoyed playing the ukelele provided in the room so much, we bought a Ukelele for our home.

No fitness center or pool, but we didn't care.....we walked on the beach for exercise and swam in the ocean.

We stayed in the very end villa, furthest from the restaurant and it was great. We loved the hammock in the trees and there was beach surrounding our porch, so it was easy to let the kids run around & play and we could keep them in eyesight. But, I don't see that any of the 4 villas would be a bad choice.

We will definitely be back for another visit, but probably not tell our family we are on the island yet so that we can have some more quiet time to ourselves!

Lava Lave Beach Club gave us a perfect spot to enjoy fabulous views, food and service. Not to mention being positioned to enjoy beach walks, local shopping and restaurants. The staff and amenities were excellent. We so enjoyed the delivery of the daily cocktail and appetisers at sunset each day ... Thanks guys, it made us feel special. We'll be back!

What's not to love? Spacious, upscale accommodations right on the beach. The outdoor shower was the most amazing shower I've ever seen. The view every morning was etched in m mind forever. Thank you Lava Lava staff for a wonderful Anniversary trip!

Room Tip: 3 rd or 4 th cottage is away from the restaurant . Mali is where we stayed.
