“Maybe a 3 1/2”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

We just returned from 8 days in Waikoloa on the Big Island. We have been to this Roy's Waikoloa before and decided to have dinner here our first night in town - one of our favorite restaurants and convenient to our hotel - dinner was good as was the service but wasn't outstanding as our first visit a few years ago. We did return several nights later - and we had reservations. The restaurant was packed and we were warmly greeted - recognized from the prior night - but, we were given a table on the upper level near the service door. The noise level was extreme; it was crowded, lots of groups, couples, families with children. Our server tried to rush us through dinner; the food was not even as good as our first night and they tried to take our plates before we were even finished. We felt like they were just turning over tables - this is very disappointing. We observed a couple seated near by who had come in just before us still on their appetizer while we were being rushed through to dessert. We might go back because it is convenient and the food is still good but will be sure to time it better and maybe just go to Hawaiian Time. It is a shame because we had such an outstanding experience our first visit.

“Great food and excellent service”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

Sat at bar for a drink before sitting down for dinner but Dustin the bartender was so friendly and attentive that we ended up having dinner too. The Hawaiian fish of the day was excellent as were the dumpling appetizers. Have been to several Roy's which have all been very good but this one is a step above.

“Great Hawaiian dinner”
Reviewed 9 June 2014 via mobile

You must eat at Roy's in Hawaii. We had dinner of price fixe menu with wine pairings. They start you with sampler of chicken egg roll, spicy tuna roll and ribs (awesome!) with prosecco. We had entrees of Mac nut swordfish and short ribs. Both were very good. Desserts of Mac nut tart and chocolate soufflé were tasty. Worth the $70 price.

Good menu with local fresh foods. This place gives you a sophisticated flavor of Hawaii. Don't miss.

“Reliably Yummy”

Everyone should do dinner at Roy's - especially when in Hawaii, it's a great tradition to start. We loved our waiter, had a great water view table and the food was excellent. Of course ending with pineapple upside down cake made the night!

“Nice place”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

We attended a dinner here with a business partner of my husband's company. My choice of three different types of fish prepared three ways was good. I think "how good" it was might depend upon what you have. The atmosphere was nice. Definitely upscale. The service was good. I heard the chocolate lava cake was really wonderful.
