There is nothing special about this course. The Mauna Lani courses were in much better shape and more scenic. You would be better off playing the Big Island Country Club at half the price and far more interesting holes.

“Great potential... but needs attention.”
Reviewed 13 July 2013

We played both the Kings and Beach courses. The courses have great potential for being great places to play. The problem is that both have a lot of dry brown areas including the greens. The bunkers have very little sand and some cloth is actually exposed in some traps and grass growing in others. The staff could use a course on "service" as well. To begin with, they were not especially friendly or helpful. Also, our cart had spider webs in the cup holders so we knew it hadn't had attention for awhile. There was no ice or water in the ice chest so we had to switch chests. The cart battery began running out on the 15th hole and by the end of the 17th we had to push it up the hill to the 18th hole. The layout of both courses is both fair and challenging and we enjoyed playing the shots. We had a discount from where we were staying so the price was reasonable compared to others in the area but for the condition of the courses the regular price is somewhat high.

“Course very dry...except sand traps.”
Reviewed 8 July 2013

How these courses (Kings and Beach) continue to demand the rates they do is beyond me. As others have stated the courses are dry with large brown spots in many areas. The thing is quite a few of the sand traps, if you can call them that as there is very little sand in most, are wet and/or have standing water. It isn't an area prone to heavy rains so they must have irrigation issues. The practice facility and includes a large putting green and bunker area. Staff is also very nice but this does not make up for the poor course conditions.
If the winds are not blowing I think Hapuna Beach Prince Golf Course is a much better value. For those traveling most of the courses are going to punch their greens in the months of May, September, and after Thanksgiving as that is generally slow periods so you should ask when booking.

“Expected More”
Reviewed 7 July 2013

Though a beautiful course with some truly scenic holes, it is wrongly named. Only one hole is next to the water...the rest meander through the Waikoloa Beach Resort area. One big disappointment was the absence of GPS. You'd think that paying $135 at a resort golf course would get you some amenities, but they were lacking in this area.

“gone down hill”
Reviewed 6 July 2013

weeds growing in the bunkers fairways were very brown and the greens need a lot of help, divots everywhere. it appears that the owners have not done any maintenance. The cost with a discount was $95.00 per person, they should pay you to play
