The Bay Club at Waikoloa Beach Resort
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 18 July 2014

It has been 4 years since we last stayed at the Bay Club. Last time, the units were in much need of updating, especially the kitchen. When I walked into our unit on the 3rd floor of building 1, I was so excited to see all the remodeling! The kitchen has been completely redone and was immaculate, with all new appliances, new cabinets and granite countertops. All the furnishings have been replaced with a more updated decor.
All the things we already love about the Bay Club are still the same - especially the huge floor plan and the wraparound balcony. We ate every meal outside on the balcony while we enjoyed the beauty right outside our door.
We were there for July 4th, and we were able to see the fireworks from the Bay Club very well, without having to find a space at the Waikoloa Bowl. Even though the property was very full due to the holiday, it never felt crowded. We were always able to find a parking space right outside our building, with only a couple of exceptions throughout our week.

These two bedroom/2bath rooms are very comfortable and spacious. The deck offers a view of the golf corse with partial ocean view. Room 235 is on the third floor, while room 224 is on the second floor. Each very similar and the master bedroom has an on-suite. A jacuzzi is close by and very nicely landscaped.

Hilton Grand Vacation Club facilities are outstanding for their beauty (setting and upkeep). The groundskeepers are meticulous. The Bay Club rooms are a bit of a letdown because they need more maintenance on air conditioners that leak and living are so much smaller than those at the HGVC units. There are no lifts into pools for people with handicaps, and you have to pay $85 to go in the Hilton Hotel pool and hot tub.

Superb location on the big island. Clean, quiet and up to date. Easy access to the beautiful beaches of Kona. A car is a must though. All amenities are near by. Be ready for sticker shock on food. Not the resort's fault. Similar throughout the island. Great kitchen allows meal prep on site which saves money. We'lll come back to the Bay Club.

Equipments are a little old, but it becomes a base of the Hawaii island sightseeing. The beautiful sea and a comfortable golf course are near, and shopping's are convenient. With the full kitchen , food expenses can also be cut down.

My wife and I were extremely pleased with the property. We're in our early 30s but everyone staying here looked as if they were retired seniors. No complaints from me since that only means it will be quiet. When on vacation I try to spend as little time in the resort as possible, Hawaii was no exception. But the property was modern, nice size living room with flat screen TV. Comfy sofas, and chairs. Large lenai/patio (much larger than we needed) but was perfect for eating breakfast in the morning on the patio enjoying the breeze.

The bathroom was simply a shower and toilet separated by a door to get to the double vanity bathroom sinks/mirrors. I should have wrote this sooner as my memory is failing me but I'm pretty sure this resort didn't have a whirlpool. We stayed on the second floor, we never heard a sound from any other rooms/neighbors.

Full kitchen and fridge with nice marble breakfast bar made it a joy to make breakfast before hitting the town! All in all the property was perfect, there's not one thing I would change. Except for the silly entry gate. There are likely 3 gates to enter/exit the property. Your room key gets you in. Our gate (closest to our room) required constant swiping, you'd have to swipe 3-4 times before eventually it decided to open. Otherwise great property, great location.

Room Tip: We stayed on the second floor towards the right end of the property (if you're standing in front...

We were guests of some close friends from back home. If you want a quiet place to retire after a long day of sightseeing or a little bit of lovely afternoon breeze while you nap on the lanai, this is the place for you. You can do all of your cooking here for a long visit, if you like. Or venture out to many of the nearby eateries for exceptional treats. Nice recreational options at your fingertips and views of all three mountains included!
