“Toi's Kitchen still has very good home-style Thai food”
Reviewed 10 January 2013

Toi's Kitchen has always had tasty Thai food with a local touch. It has been owned and run by the same family for at least 20 years. We had tom yum ka soup and basil chicken, and both were very yummy and plenty for two. Toi's also has a large variety of curries. The generously portioned entres, which includes the soup entres, comes with a small papaya salad to start, rice and thai-style black rice or tapioca pudding, swimming in coconut milk, for dessert, so $15 is pretty good value for chicken curry entre.

This is not a fancy place and local folks often eat here. The decor is not elegant, but it's a good place to eat after a long hike in the pali.

“Gratifying visit to a distant corner of the Kaua'i food galaxy.”
Reviewed 4 January 2013

You'll be rewarded with excellent Thai food at very low prices, if you make the trip over to Toi's.
You are not paying for "Hawaii themed" decoration, upscale finishes or sophisticated menus - just really good food. Toi's menu offers a few neat Thai-Hawaii fusion items, like their version of Saiman - which was the best we've seen. We tried the Calamari Saiman, which was served in a delectable bowl of calamari, noodles and sliced vegetables, with sprouts, lemon and basil to be added at the table. Also brought to the table was a separate plate holding four clear goblets of chili flakes, vinegar, fish sauce and sugar condiments. Elegant! The food is certainly on a higher level than the modest dining space, but that is a welcome turnabout from the usual situation in Kaua'i. Prices are very low and Toi's is CASH ONLY, USA currency only. A lady insisted on paying in Canadian currency while we were there, which created a stressful situation. Also, verify that they are open - they are closed Sunday and Monday.

“Yummy Thai food...”
Reviewed 12 December 2012

The setting is less than perfect. It is situated in the Ele'ele shopping plaza, and tucked away in the corner. Parking is easy. The restaurant lacks in atmosphere, and decor. Very basic. But...the food is reasonably priced, and good. A Mom & Pop kind of business.

“Thai in Kauai”
Reviewed 30 November 2012

Just a little place in a strip mall by the highway with good food. The tom ka soup was the best we've ever tried! We also had the seafood pad Thai and cashew chicken which were pretty good.

“Found Toi's not tempting”
Reviewed 22 November 2012

Love Thai. Just not Toi's version, Tried Toi's Temptation and Cashew Chicken and the fried spring rolls. Dinners came with choice of salad and desert. The green papaya salad was okay but nothing to write home (or TripAdvisor) about. Cashew Chicken was edible, Toi's Temptation was something that I was "tempted" to throw away and was in no way anything like any Thai I had ever eaten. The fried spring rolls were served with lettuce, cucumber and mint and were more greasy than any other flavor. The dessert was green tapioca in coconut milk and didn't do much to impress either. For the cost there is much better food on Kauai.
