“wonderful fish”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

The grilled fish was the best I had ever eaten. Be prepared though, the prices are not cheap and the place is very noisy. Still the service was good.

“Should have visited this place sooner”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

We went on our last night in Kauai. We wished we had eaten there earlier so we could have eaten there more often! We ordered the sampler platter for two and had the wasabi ahi. It was very delicious! We ordered it seared - almost sashimi - and the ahi melted in our mouths! Our son ordered the child's quesadillas but ended up eating a lot of the items on the sampler platter. He ate all the rockets and I was able to enjoy the taro fritter. We will definitely eat there again! The service was great!

“A Real Hanalei Gem!!”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

Our last night of an amazing week on Kauai. Chose Postcards because it had a favorable review in our guide book. My boyfriend and I had not made a reservation, but it did not matter. (We went on a Thursday night around 8pm.) The hostess, as well as our server, was super friendly, kind, and professional. I think they truly like working at the restaurant. We were seated on the front porch, and quickly made friends with another couple who were also seated.

The restaurant is a clean white with a romantic vibe, summer beach cottage. They only serve wine and beer, but after umpteen Mai Tai's, not a problem for us.

On the recommendation of the other couple as well as our server, we ordered the fish of the day and and picked the tapenade appetizer.

A bit after we had ordered, the neighboring couple suggested the Postcards platter, so I went to the hostess (our server was in the kitchen) and asked if we could change the starter. After I sat back down, our server brought out the tapenade and the Postcard Platter, saying the tapenade was on the house in honor of our last night on the island. Totally gracious and unexpected.

The Postcards platter and tapenades were very good. Loved the pineapple chutney. The Fresh Island Fish entrees were fantastic. We ordered both grilled and blackened, with the macadamia butter and peppered pineapple sage sauces.

Sadly no room for desert. We ended up closing the place, but never felt rushed. A magical final night in Hanalei thanks to this restaurant and caring staff. So much so I had to post a review!

“Quality and laid back”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

The atmosphere is Hawaiian laid back. The menu is organic vegetarian with the option of fresh caught local fish. The staff was friendly, in a Hawaiian way, and professional. The food was very good. There were several choices of appetizer, which made the decision difficult. We went with the roasted beet and goat cheese salad. With no meat, it made the choices much easier for us. It is on the left as you enter Hanalei. It's a great eating option

“maybe get seafood instead”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

This was one of our more expensive meals on the island (because we tried not to hit the nicer restaurants every day). The concept seemed great - local seafood and vegetarian - but they missed a bit on the execution. The place is nice and service was fine. Appetizers were mostly good, and the bread was good (though it is a menu item that you pay for - not complimentary). But the vegetarian entrees were short on flavor. We didn't have seafood - perhaps that would have been more satisfying.
