The cheapest golf on the island. You only need to play this course one time. The surrounding park is real nice though.

So where else do you get to play UNLIMITED golf for $7 on weekdays or a whopping $9 on weekends? Right here at Kukuiolono GC is where! Located on top of a hill with sweeping views of the south side of the island, it's probably one of the best-kept golf secrets anywhere ... I challenge anyone to find a better deal anywhere, much less in Hawaii, where you expect to pay a minimum of $50-60, and more like $150-200 for a round of 18 holes. Now, mind you, the course is not perfect. When we were there in mid-October the grass on the fairways was dry (the greens and tee boxes are watered and very green) so it was dry Bermuda grass, that was fine with us. The fairways are incredibly wide with not many hazards coming into play. The course is played mostly by the locals, so not many tourists. There are no scheduled tee times, just show up and play ... the 2 days we played there was no wait. Cart rental is $6 per 9 holes. There are gorgeous views of the south side of the island from many holes, especially from the 7th tee. Also check out the view from the picnic lunch area near the 6th hole ... one of the best! As mentioned in previous reviews, this was the personal golf course of sugar magnate Walter McBryde who, upon his death, donated this land to the state of Hawaii for the locals to enjoy. So tip your hat and say thanks to Walter, who's buried in the Japanese garden between the 7th and 8th holes. Enjoy!

You can't beat the price, the views or the people that run this golf course. We played other courses on Kauai but had the most fun playing Kukuiolono.

What a deal …$9 for golf in Hawaii!! The Kukuiolono Golf Course in Kauai is an excellent value, and may be the best golf value in Hawaii. It is a 9 hole regulation length course that operates on a first come first serve basis. I played there twice (Saturday and Monday) on my recent trip and walked right on both times. I have played golf all over Hawaii (usually costing in excess of $150 per round) and while the Kukuiolono Golf Course is not a Nicklaus, Rees or Jones design it is pretty good golf and the scenic views on this course rival those of the Plantation course at Kapalua. The Wailua municipal course on Kauai is also an excellent value at about $40 for 18 holes (if you can get a tee time).

Kukuiolono offers rental clubs for $9 and you can get pull carts or golf carts if you want to ride. I only played 9 holes each time I visited but I was told you could play on without paying an additional green fee; however you do have to pay for any rented equipment each time you go around.
