Our Family of 4 stayed 1 week at Kapaa Shores in March 2013 - we booked through our Vacation International Timeshare. Great location, close to Safeway for grocery shopping, close to tons of restaurants, close to the bike path along the beach - very central on the Island of Kauai. The suite had renovated bathrooms, very clean, we did have a problem with ants in the kitchen...pretty gross. The only thing that I didn't like about the condo was the pool...it was freezing cold!! Our 5 year old would barely go in....it never warmed up.

This is our second time here and we have a middle floor unit looking out to the ocean. Suite is well laid out but unfortunate the bedrooms have to face the parking lot. If there are only two of you use the Murphy bed and listen to ocean waves instead as it faces yard and ocean. Doves come and visit on the lanai and are more than willing to share ( not supposed to encourage them,)

Room Tip: Units a and b have all suites facing ocean. We like the second floor but others may want to walk out...

I have been to Hawaii 8 times now... we stayed here in May of 2013. I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews, but I was amazed! We stayed on the second floor and had an AWESOME view of the ocean. The grounds are beautiful and kept up well. Yes... it is an older condo, but I was very satisfied and would stay again. Front desk staff was great too! No A/C, but the breeze from the ocean kept us cool enough. We had a Murphy bed in the living room and it was very comfortable. Definitely a THUMBS up from me!

Stay booked as a Diamond timeshare referral. Avoid like the plague. Photos/description misleading. Old, out of date. Exterior dirty. Entry way dirty with lots of bird poop. Interior furniture old/uncomfortable. Bathmat looked like original from when location first built. No beach to speak of. Bedroom window faced parking lot. Wakened by garbage truck lights/alarms at 4:00 a.m. Supposed to stay 10 days; left in 2 nights. I am not a princess and don't need luxurious accommodations, but I do expect the places I pay for to be in good repair, clean and well maintained. Not the case here. Thank goodness our friends were booked elsewhere. They would not have ever spoken to us again if they took reservations here.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere.

Stayed here for it's centrally located convenience but won't be returning. Had a second floor unit (201) and there seemed to be an elephant or two in the third floor unit. This started around 6am and lasted until midnight a couple times. The walls for your neighbor next door must be uninsulated and only 3 inches thick. Could hear their TV and voices constantly. The people upstairs finally left and then I was told by the realty company that they were going to be doing remodeling from 9-5 all week. This was more BS since 3 of the nights the workers were banging around and making noise after 10:00pm. The condo's are poorly designed since the bedroom is located where everybody walks to get to their condo. It has the glass louvered windows and due to the heat and humidity they do need to be open at night. Not everyone goes to be by 10pm either.

We were also arranging the cushions on the sofa and apparently the cleaning people only vacuum where they can see. Behind and under the sofa was left over food from god knows when. I'm now looking for other agencies and places to stay on Kauai for my next trip in the coming months.

Room Tip: Kapaa is very centrally located to get to the North Shore, Lihue, shopping across the street, Poipu...

This is an older condo, but is fairly well kept up. The furnishings were older, but still in great shape and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, etc. that allowed you to cook and serve up to six folks, but if you are going to do a lot of cooking, be prepared to purchase everything but salt and pepper. Probably my only complaint was the light just outside our bedroom on the walkway was just a bit too bright for me to sleep easily. We were in building 2, 2nd floor and had direct ocean views from the balcony which were great. We watched the sunrise every day we were there while having coffee.
