“Terrible experience”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

We had a terrible experience and the owners basically told us not to go due to mud in trail. It wasnt the message but how she said it. Wouldnt suggest it to anyone.

“Just kayaks”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Our family of 5 just wanted to rent kayaks. Did not want a tour group. Just wanted to enjoy Wailua River. Wailua Kayak Adventures was very reasonable. You drive to their office which is less than 10 mins. from the river and loaded up the kayaks onto our car. They supply the life jackets also. We drove to the river, unloaded kayaks and spent 3 hours on the river. It was perfect!

“Embrace the mud”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

Five of us did the Secret Falls tour. None of us knew what we were getting into when we signed up. When we arrived the wonderful, warm owners quickly told us we would be hiking through mud up to our knees, showed us pictures, and offered used tennis shoes to anyone who didn't want to sacrifice their shoes or had shoes that were not up to the hike. Three people did back out (not our party), but four other people did brave it with us. FANTASTIC. Our guide, Judah, was amazing. So relaxed and informative. Really made us feel comfortable. Thank god for hiking sticks. None of us really thought we'd need them; all of us would have kissed them, mud covered or not, by the end of the tour. It was a lot of fun. The kayak part is pretty easy. Snacks are provided at the Falls. Judah kept telling us to "embrace the mud" and it became our motto and rallying cry by the end. We all agreed we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

“Family of 5”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

We wanted to go at our own pace because we had small kids, so we just rented two kyaks at 10AM and had them until 5PM. It was the most fun adventure we had while we were in Kauai. We found the secret falls, fern grotto, and cliff jumping spots no problem with the map the owners provided. They also helped train us with everything we needed and helped load the kyaks onto the mini van. Just Awesome. The kids loved it too!

“Our Amazing Journey”
Reviewed 7 June 2014 via mobile

When my girlfriend and I were planning our trip two week trip to Hawaii she had the great idea to spend a few days in Kauai. She was born and raised in Honolulu Oahu, Hawaii . I am from Northern California. Said she hadn't been in a while and that it was beyond beautiful. So I said, "sure lets go."
The five days we spent in Kauai (stayed in Poipu) were fantastic but what really made it was our Kayak Adventure on the Wailua River. She planned it last minute, best idea ever. When we arrived at the Kayak headquarters we were greeted by our guide Kawika. (pronounced with a v sound) A funny, friendly local guy (from Kauai), long hair, and in shape who made our group feel very comfortable by telling jokes and learning everyone's first name before we even left the headquarters. The tour was 4 hours and it flew by. We started at the mouth of Wailua River in 2 person Kayaks 6 in our group. Our guide by himself. He was extremely knowledgable of the entire area including plants, animals, history of the people of Hawaii, etc... The scenery was epic. It was a green like I've never seen before. So lush and healthy. We stopped about 1.75 miles up the river and hiked in to Secret Falls. It was a 2 mile hike, This part was a bit tricky. Many sections were full of mud waste deep at times with slippery footings and exposed roots. But Kawika didn't rush at all and made sure we were all safe at the same time pointing out different things to observe, touch and smell. The falls were beautiful. Water was refreshing and cleansing. (covered in mud! So fun!). We had a few beers and a lite lunch talking with others and our guide Kawika. The hike back was less mud and more interesting facts from our Guide. We came to find out he was one of only a handful of actual, true local guides which really added an immense amount of credibility and trustfulness with the entire thing. Then the kayak trip back. This was a bit harder because the wind was in our face, the beer got us drowsy and we were tuckered out. But that was nothing compared to the highlight of our Kauai Adventure. Great tour! Beautiful scenery. Funny, personable, knowledgable guide. Five stars on everything across the board. My girlfriend and I advise anyone planning a trip to Kauai to go on this Kayak Adventure! And request Kawika for your guide. You will not be disappointed.
