This is a family run restaurant that prepares food the exact way you would get it if you visited a locals home. We visit this restaurant at least once every year when we visit Kauai. There's nothing fancy here and the wait staff and cooks are family and friends... The saiman soup and loco moco are our favorites but there's more local food... Just don't expect ritzy presentations or skimpy portions ... Just right and the prices are too. I've always been taught to go to restaurants where the locals go ... This is the place.

“Late lunch-too late”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

We read a review that the restaurant had declined but still worth the trip. We ordered the tempura shrimp with Steak. The waitress reccommended we order the one with chicken fried steak, what a mistake that was. It seemed since we had lunch at 2 pm we got the leftovers from the lunch crowd. The tempura was a little stale, steak was over cooked and chicken was tasteless. The rice was ok but its hard to fowl up white rice. I will not come back no matter how much food they put on the plate.

“So good!”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

There's a reason they've been in business since 1973. If you don't have friends in Kauai that invite you over for a home cooked meal...go here and experience what a home cooked meal is like. Nothing fancy, just good food. You probably won't see many tourists eating here, just locals. And that my friend is a sign of good food.

“Reasonably Priced & Good Place to Dine”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

Local greasy spoon. This must be where the locals come! On the tables were bottles of chili-pepper water & coffee cupsW/ lots of sugar & cream.

Lots of local favorites. After placing my order I saw other orders & wished I had ordered it!

Hamburgers were homemade & won ton min was actually tasty with all the "stuff" they put inside.

At the register were cookies. Cashier said was made by his aunt. I love crispy peanut butter cookies with the fork prong marks. Ate it after we left Kauai & really wish I had purchased more!

“Food is good”
Reviewed 22 August 2013

Probably 3 1/2 stars. Food was good - just a bit overpriced. Service was good, although some waiters seem pretty new. Skip the foo foo drinks. Not a great a view and close to the road. If you're staying more than a week in the area, I'd go here, but I wouldn't travel here from other parts of the island.
