“Great Guide, Fun trip, and awesome people”
Reviewed 17 May 2014

Sierra and I went on the kayak tour yesterday. Our tour guide Thomas was AMAZING! We checked in, met everyone in the group, grabbed some water, chips and cookies for lunch and packed the dry bags we were handed. Then we piled into the van for five minutes to go to the marina. Once at the marina we unloaded and set up the kayaks with instruction from Thomas and got on our way. The kayaks are doubles and you don't need any kayaking experience prior. It does help if the person in back has a little experience though because they are the steer mechanism. It was a beautiful kayak on the river and the hike was awesome. Beware though the hike is really muddy, even up to your knees at some point, but it is totally worth it. The Secret Waterfall is gorgeous and so much fun to swim below. While at the waterfall we ate the lunches provided by the group. There were veggie and gluten free options as well. Thomas provided fun and interesting facts about the island and the hike itself the whole way through. After the hike we wandered back down to the river for the kayak out. It was a lovely afternoon activity. If you do the afternoon- make late dinner reservations since we returned close to seven. Highly recommend this activity.

“Kayak good Hike not so good”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

Let me qualify myself. My wife and I have hiked many miles on many trails in many places and terrains. Mostly day hikes and try to stay away from the strenuous level. We like to enjoy our surrounding instead of working hard to get somewhere. The Kayak paddle to the trail leading to Secret Falls was a nice little 2 miler on flat water. The trail to Secret Falls was a muddy mess and was not enjoyable at all. It was a mile in and a mile out. With most of the trail in mud. Many parts of it was in muddy muck up to your knees. We had just bought some north face water shoes and it totally destroyed them because the mud could not be washed out of them and made them hard. There is a river to cross that has a rope tied across it so you don't get washed down river. That was not to bad and felt good to get some of that much washed off your legs. Despite the trail, Thomas did a great job guiding us through the mud, and had an outstanding lunch spread for us once we reached the falls. I just wished either the resort who booked the hike for us, or the brochure would have said something about how muddy the trail was.

“Don't let the mud scare you, do this!”
Reviewed 1 April 2014

This was probably our favorite thing that we did on Kauai. We are pretty solid kayakers (river) and could have done the trek alone but all in all, the guided trip was a much better idea and lots more fun. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful day and a great guide in Andy. There were six of us in our group and we the company was just great! Andy was wonderful about keeping us close without feeling like anyone was lagging or rushing. His 'talk story' kept us interested in what we were seeing as we traveled along. The hike was extremely muddy, as has been described and aside from the great stories, this was another great reason to have a guide along. He was able to safely maneuver us through all the muck and mire through a beautiful stream and to our final destination, the lovely 'secret' falls. You do need to have good solid footwear (I had water shoes, others wore sneakers and we were all fine) and they will get plenty muddy. Patience is a great thing too while on the trail! Grab a walking stick when you get there and enjoy because Kauai is full of beautiful places and this is one of them! Thank you Andy!!

“Great day out!”
Reviewed 28 March 2014

The day was perfect! We lucked out in weather and paddled into the sun all day. The hike to the falls wasn't tough, but was definitely knee-deep muddy. The fall was spectacular and a great cool down/shower.
Not only did our guide Andy get us up and down safely, but he was incredibly knowledgable in regards to everything you could ever want to know along the way! He was patient and fun to talk to!

“Highly recommend this company for a great day.”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

Our guide was personable, safety conscious, and knowledgeable. He has the top of the line kayaks and was extremely patient and encouraging to those of us who had never been on a kayak before. He was also very open about telling us that the hike to the falls was very very muddy and slippery. We didn't go but others did. We waited for them and practiced kayaking in the area until they returned. Sorry we missed it but slippery mud on narrow hills and paths isn't very comfortable to me. It was my choice not to go and we appreciated the guide telling us this up front so we could decide. Still, we had a great day. Water was provided, snacks, and very freshly made sandwiches. Bathroom facilities at the start and upon return. Wear water shoes! No flip flops are permitted.
