As grandparents we were delighted to join our daughter and her family (with two little children) for 10 days in Kauai. We had no idea what a lovely place she had found for all of us -- two little houses in a private courtyard. Our cottage was perfect: everything needed was right at hand, and it had a beautiful mountain view from a front porch shaded by avocado and mango trees. Our daughter's family found the other house equally well appointed. We took the 2-minute walk to the beach to watch the sunrise most days and enjoyed the beautiful kiddie beach -- protected by natural boulders and with plenty of tropical fish and shady areas. The central location of "17 Palms" means shopping (whether practical or whimsical) is convenient. And it is ideal for exploring all parts of this exquisite island.

Great little get-a-way! You felt like one of the locals! Everything was so accessible and Jeff and Ross really made your stay easy! Kitchen for cooking, livingroom for relaxing, snorkel, fins, chairs etc right at your disposal. We were always so excited to get back after a long day of adventure, cook a nice meal on the grill, open a bottle of wine and just....breath it all in! We will be back to Kauai and back to 17 Palms!

We had a lovely two weeks in the small cottage--the only one with a porch/lanai. Only bummer were the mosquitos who love the dampness but some cheap citronella coils purchased at Long's allowed us to spend hours on the lanai drinking our morning mango smoothies or enjoying evening drinks. It being July, there was quite a bit of traffic at some of the snorkeling beaches--we couldn't get into Ke'e and Tunnels was mobbed but we loved Anini, saw lots of fish and enjoyed peaceful solitude. One of us had a beach massage under the trees just at the end of the path to the beach across from the cottage. Lots of good eats in town esp. Mermaids and East Side Grill, in Hanalei the Dolphin Restaurant and adjoining Fish market were yummy. Don't miss Duane's Ono Char Burger on the way to Anini in the Whalers Country Store turnoff, small red shack with outdoor tables. Roosters or the trash collection next door at the apt. complex may wake you but there's so much to do (or not do) with many supplies right at the cottage (boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrella, coolers, plush towels) to make this a real leisure destination. Mahalo Ross and Jeff for a wonderful respite from chilly SF!

It was obvious from our first contact, that it was their goal to make our stay comfortable and memorable. It was a peaceful haven after a day of exploring, swimming/snorkeling or sightseeing. Anything we needed was provided and the house was spotlessly clean. I especially loved coming back from the beach, hot and sandy, to shower under the banana trees. It was a dream. We couldn't have asked for more. We will certainly go again and tell our friends about it!

When we started planning our trip to Hawaii, something we really wanted was a different lodging experience than a typical hotel or resort. We find resorts are pricey and we seldom use the amenities and hotels are sometimes so "sterile". So, it was decided to locate a rental/cottage/vacation option while in Kauai. After looking around online for awhile, we found 17 Palms and it was just what we wanted. After we arrived, it was even better than the pictures viewed online. It was centrally located and close in distance to everything vacationers would want. The accomandations were so well decorated and clean and resembled a house and were nothing like a hotel. A person felt they were in their own warm & cosy home. We will have trouble staying in hotels anymore, especially when spending several nights. We loved everthing about it, its cleaniness, location, quietness, and the overall feel of the place is something that will be treasured. This trip to Hawaii was to celebrate our anniversary and it exceeded all of our expectations. Thank you so much Jeff & Ross.

17 Palms Kauai is a secret gem in the charming town of Kapaa, Kauai. We stayed in the Meli Meli Cottage. This 2 bedroom cottage was well appointed with everything one could want and even some things you didn't know you neeeded. Our hosts have thought of it all. The recommendations for food were spot on. Beware, these cottages are not air-conditioned so sleeping with the windows open and the fans on is the way it goes. Rooms were cool at night so sleeping was easy. There are newly installed solar fans in the bedrooms and living area to keep the heat down in the day time. Trash does get picked up at 430am and the time disfunctional rooster seems to be doing better. But, the birds get up with the sun and they're the alarm clock here. Best recommendations for this cottage if Lampertts for IceCream at Coconut Marketplace (walking distance) and Eastside for dinner. Breakfast rice cereal at Mermaids is HUGE!

Our stay at 17 Palms Kauai was great. The "cottage" has a great location. Not to close to the main road, yet, within easy walking distance to a great beach. We offten walked to the beach and found that we had the whole beach to ourselves. The cottage came with beach chairs, beach toys and boggie boards which we used. The cottage even had a "theme". Sorta sugar/pineapple plantation workers cottage. Straw mats on painted wooden floors. There were also many modern appliances as well. Screened windows allowed open window sleeping and enviromentaly safe temperature control. The landscaping was very well done. DO NOT MISS THE OWNERS "AMERICANA" SHOW!! Wayne and Anne
