Waipouli Beach Resort

The resort was in a great location on the east side of the island near Kapaa. The beach views were awesome! The room was nicely decorated and very comfortable, all the comforts of home. The pool was very nice, even though the towel ladies tried to act like lifeguards, strictly enforcing pool rules to the extent that patrons young and old were very frustrated. The bar/grill by the pool was not owned by Outrigger; the service there was outstanding but the prices were outrageously high.
Housekeeping staff was average, at best. Our room was not vacuumed once in the 13 days we were there. They tried to do the bare minimum each and every time we observed their performance. They forgot to give us dish towels on two occasions. They weren't overly friendly and didn't seem appreciative that we were guests of the hotel, essentially helping pay their salary. The day we checked out we discovered several roaches in the room. The front desk staff was not very considerate when we asked for a late checkout. They wouldn't even grant us one hour; but they would be happy to extend our checkout until 6PM for ONLY $125. That's not customer friendly.
Overall, for the price we paid, I expected more, especially from the staff. I can't justify rating this place higher just based on the views. We would probably consider staying there again, but I would definitely shop around for a similar view with a more competitive price.

I've stayed here a few times now. It's a great place. It's definitely a condo resort, not so much a hotel. It's very centrally located, so it's not to far from Princeville or Poipu, right in the middle. :) Very modern and has everything you need in a vacation condo. I will definitely stay again!!!

We loved the condo. This is in one of the newest projects so everything was in new condition. The owners were very responsive to our needs and renting this property from them was a great experience. Pools, slides and several Jacuzzis allow for private times. The location is great only 10 mins from airport and with many restaurants and grocery stores just accross the street. The onsite staaff very very helpful. When we return to Kauai we will be staying here again.

Centrally located with a Safeway and Starbucks across the street. I made the reservation through a link on trip advisor and got a great rate. We stayed in a spacious, clean condo unit with two bedrooms, full kitchen with granite counters and high end appliances including washer dryer. It was quiet and relaxing. The pool is great and the beach out front is beautiful. I would definitely stay here again. In fact, we stayed our last night at the Grand Hyatt and preferred the Waipouli stay. Hyatt does have beautiful grounds too and the exact same pool as Waipouli, but Waipouli felt so much more comfortable and less crowded.

Room Tip: Don't choose a room on the bottom floor near walkways.

I just got back from Kauai(10/10/2011). I loved Kauai. I loved Waipouli Outrigger. I loved the weather. Huge two bedroom ocean front room. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. The beds were comfortable. Furnishings were very good. All the appliances and cookware I needed. I stayed at G201 and was very pleased.Check-in was effortless. The pool does NOT have a lazy river. It is a wading pool feature. No inflatables unless you are handicapped or infant. Three spaced out sand bottomed hot tubs. The Mai-Tais are overpriced at the Oasis (next to the pool) but so what? You're on vacation and they are yum-yum delicious. Indulge.

Room Tip: Bring a flashlight. You're timezone weary. You're airline fatigued. And now it's time to...

Stayed here for our honeymoon in 2008, a little while ago but we loved this place! It is pricey, but it's Kauai so what do you expect? For the price, you get an amazing condo-type room, complete with full kitchen, balcony, washer/dryer combo. It's incredibly convenient, and the property itself is gorgeous.

We had originally tried to upgrade to a full ocean view room, but ended up with sort of a partial view on the side of the building. We had a two bedroom condo because they didn't have any one bedroom available, so they just sealed off the second bedroom and charged us for the smaller room, which was fine by us.

This is a big place, so it would work well for families, however it was nice and quiet for us when we stayed there in October. It's also in a great location on the island, pretty much right in the center of the state highway, so you can get down to Poipu and Waimea easily, or up to Princeville/Hanalei in the other direction. It's also right across the street from a Safeway, but beware - grocery prices in this area are EXTREMELY high! We paid $8 for orange juice! You may be able to save a little money by making breakfast/lunch in your room, but to save cash, make the drive down to the Wal-Mart in Lihue. It's moderately cheaper and also a great place to shop for gifts to take back home to family and friends.

We loved the Outrigger and can't wait to come back!

The pictures online don't do justice! We enjoyed every moment at this Kauai paradise! I am so glad we made the side trip to Kauai as we normally spend all of our time in Maui. We enjoyed this property more than the condo we stayed in 5 years ago at Poipu. It's hard to believe it was only 2 weeks ago we were enjoying the spa at Waipouli Beach Resort & Spa.
