This CbM is relatively economical (nothing on Kauai is cheap hence they charge you $14 a night additional for parking) and has a great location on the open ocean so it's worth getting a room with an ocean view. Our room was a good size with a comfortable bed: the bathroom and lanai/balcony were tiny. CbM try to keep the frills under control and here they are so controlled as to be non-existent .... apart from a small plastic cup of maitai and the soap in the bathroom it's a bare-bones approach so you need to bring anything else you need.
Efficient and friendly concierge desk (run by Expedia).

We were island-hopping and stayed 3 nights. At check in we received beautiful leis and a bottle of champagne for our anniversary. Our room was ocean view with a small lanai. There was a roach in the bathroom (this happened to us on another island as well). The staff moved us to a large oceanfront room on the first floor. We were able to loung right outside our room, on the beach. They also offered us a breakfast buffet, which was very good. Beautiful, peaceful. And roosters everywhere. The location was great, about 20 minutes from the airport, and within walking distance of the coconut marketplace, good for souvenirs and where my husband enjoyed his nightly Lapperts ice-cream, a must try for ice-cream lovers! Also, for breakfast, Eggberts is located there, open only til about 2pm, which includes entertainment in the form of hula dancing while you eat. We rented a car, parking was 14.00 a night which is not bad compared to what I paid on other islands, and were able to easily explore the island from the location. There are supermarkets up the road to pick up some water and fruit. The desk staff was very helpful in helping us decide upon the sunset cruise to the Na Pali coast, absolutely a must!the evening mai tais they handed out in the lobby between 5:30-7pm were a nice touch! Good fitness center.

Room Tip: ocean view!

This is my second trip to Kauai staying in this hotel, which says something right there. Both times I stayed in an ocean view room (well worth it to wake up to sunrise and that view) and I just love this place. Everything is clean, well-kept, staff are friendly and have a good attitude, and there are free mai tai's at check-in before 7pm :)

We had an issue with our shower not draining, which we told the front desk on our way out the 2nd morning, and they had it fixed by the time we came back at the end of the day.

The hotel is right on the water and you can pull the beach chairs from the pool/hot tub, to the beach a few feet away to watch the sunrise or sunset. They have a great property with plenty of space to walk along the beach in the grass, or on the beach, and everything is very clean and well-taken-care-of. There are even free-standing hammocks by the pool/beach!

On our last morning (we stayed two nights, three days), we had the breakfast buffet downstairs, which was delicious. There's an omelette station where someone makes omelette's to order, plus the usual breakfast fare, all very yummy, for about $17.

It's a beautiful hotel and in such a great location. Kapa'a is basically in the middle of the island, so it's perfect to go down one side of the island one day, and the other the next day, with your hotel in the middle as home base. Not the cheapest hotel, I would recommend looking for deals online in places like Orbitz or Priceline. Be prepared to pay $250 and up per night for a room, especially one with an ocean view. Well worth it though if you can afford it!

Room Tip: If you can afford the ocean view it's WELL worth it! Can't beat waking up to the sunrise in...

Stayed here on our last trip and was real impressed. I've stayed at a few Marriotts in Europe but never in the states. This was quite impressive. The hotel is located right on the beach (east side of the island) and a short drive from the airport. Room was clean, good view of the ocean and a very good price especially for a resort community. Their restaurant was very good and great service. Friendly waiters and staff. They have a great happy our both food and drinks between 4 and 7 in the evening. Quite tasty and very reasonable.

The hotel has many one offs and one of them is a Hawaiian Sunrise ritual every Monday and Wednesday morning. It was fun to watch and participate in.

If we are back in Kauai, we will most likely stay here again.

Pros:

My wife and I got married at this hotel with 50 of our closest friends and family for a destination wedding. Of all the hotels in Hawaii, this one provides you with the most value when it comes to planning a destination wedding. All of our guests absolutely loved the modern hotel amenities, luxurious rooms, and the beautiful pool. The hotel did a great job accommodating our large group and allowing our rooms to be centrally located. The staff made it a point to ensure that everyone got the most out of their stay. The location is great as it is an easy trip to the Northern or Southern parts of Kauai. Hotel staff are willing to take the time to help you plan the perfect trip and never cease to make you feel welcome on the island.

The food and drinks at the bar were above average. The rooms are spacious and the 4th floor provided extra room and beautiful cathedral ceilings. The hotel itself is located down the street from a local bar with live music and is equally as close to the center of Kapaa.

Cons:

Not much of a beach but this was not too big of a concern as we spent most of the days exploring the island. Also parking costs can add up.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money for the oceanview! Ask for 4th floor for cathedral ceilings!

Our room was huge and the view was amazing. We were near the stairs and with just a few steps we were on the beach or at the pool! Food and drinks at the restaurants were delish. The staff at the resort and restaurants/bar were all friendly and helpful with whatever we needed......especially Gloria!!! Only one issue with housekeeping restocking coffee, cups and TP which is quite important. I would definitely recommend this resort and will most likely stay there again if I return to Kauai!!! Just make sure and upgrade to the executive ocean view. Worth the money for sure.

Good location, right on the beach and not far from the airport. The hotel was half empty when we were there even though there was a wedding on the day we arrived. We had booked a deluxe ocean view room on the top floor which was lovely. The room was adequate, if a little dated. There were a couple of armchairs as well as a desk and chair in the room and a large wardrobe. Buffet breakfast was overpriced considering the limited options offered. Would have been nice if this hotel offered free airport shuttles considering the other Marriott offered this service. Highly recommend organising a rental car so you can drive up to the north towards Hanalei and drive south towards Waimea. Service was inadequate in the restaurants, though there were always lots of staff at the front desk. Bed and pillows were a little worn. Free wi-fi is available throughout the hotel and there is an Expedia counter where guests can book tours.
