“Paradise in Paradise!”
Reviewed 6 February 2014

Everything was perfect from the beautiful views to the delicious breakfasts and smoothies served each morning. Eddi was always available to give informed advice on what to do. The Palmwood is an excellent escape and we preferred its private location over the more crowded south shore of Kauai. Overall we had an excellent experience staying at the Palmwood and can't wait to visit again.

My wife and I stayed at The Palmwood for the last 5 nights of our honeymoon in October 2013 and we couldn't be happier that we came across it!
First of all, the food was completely out of this world: fresh, creative, and overwhelmingly delicious. A foodie's dream. We ate breakfast at The Palmwood and would go play all day without lunch and then just grab dinner, so theoretically you can take lunch out of your budget completely.
Secondly the hosts were so welcoming and really made us feel like friends. Their insight on where to go and what to do helped lead us to some of our very most memorable days on our honeymoon… and we wouldn't have found those places otherwise.
And of course, the accommodations were unique, clean, peaceful, and spacious. Not the place for people with kids, but perfect for couples. Granted the roosters make some noise at night, but it's part of the experience of the island and the peaceful trade winds and temper-pedic mattresses will lull you to a peaceful sleep.
I'm not saying this should always be expected, but we had to get up crazy early one morning to be in Wailua by 7:00AM, and our gracious host woke up even crazy earlier and made us breakfast and smoothies to-go complete with a packed sack of snacks for our day of kayaking and hiking.
I could go on and on, but the point is: book a week at The Palmwood… elegant, unique, and creative hospitality. Love it.

Room Tip: The Upper Room is the most spacious and has a fantastic balcony with a view… no hot tub or outdoor s...

We stayed at The Palmwood for four days over the Christmas holidays (yes, this review is long overdue). Words cannot describe how beautiful this area is and how restful our stay was. Our hosts were outstanding, the food delicious, and the location was perfect to navigate the northern parts of Kauai. This is truly a hidden gem.

Only 3 rooms and it feels like coming home. Everything is private, safe and charming. Eddie is a great host and we hope that she will start writing cook books - the breakfast is outstanding. We stayed in the upper suite. Well equipped room, no a/c which is not needed. 100% recommendable place for those who like it private.

We visited last week of May, and stayed for three nights at The Palmwood. We were going to stay all nights at Koa Kea on South Shore but decided to split our time between the North and South to cut down on driving, and finding The Palmwood on Tripadvisor made our vacation even more special. First, location is perfect in every possible way - away from the buzz of the South Shore but close enough to Hanalei (for restaurants) and all the great things to see on the North Shore. The Inn itself is in the most peaceful setting. We spent an evening just enjoying a bottle of wine in the backyard, watching the mountains, and as full moon lit up the evening sky, nothing could have been more serene. Service is unbelievably good. Amazing breakfasts each day - we especially looked forward to the choice of fruit smoothie every morning. Before breakfast, you can stop by the common room (a beautifully converted garage) for an early morning coffee and you might even see the resident cat enjoying a nap. There are only three guest rooms, and we were fortunate enough to make acquaintance with couples staying there, and sharing our stories of travels, life experiences, etc made the breakfasts even more lively. You can't go wrong with this place if you are a couple looking for some peaceful time. Don't even think twice of going anywhere else. As to rooms, we stayed in the West room. The outside jacuzzi was a nice touch - and came in handy after one of the hiking days! Even the outside shower was surprisingly useful! The room itself is fairly basic - but we hardly cared about that given what was around us!

Room Tip: The West Room has more privacy, I think. Outside jacuzzi and shower (also available with East) made...

We visited the Palmwood for 4 nights the first week of June. I had always stayed on Kauai's south shore before, but now I have a new 'home'. The property is beautiful but is landscaping stays to true to natural Hawaii. Fruit trees abound, and you will find their treasures in the incredible breakfast made each AM for you by the owner. We stayed in the West room and enjoyed the hot tub nightly and the outdoor shower-- often twice a day! It is so refreshing and peaceful. When we had to leave, I admit I got mopey and was nearly in tears. The mattress was memory foam and the property has so many well-thought out details and 'easter eggs' to make your stay easy. I won't bother with a resort again. Only 'cons' is that the wireless was a little spotty (cell coverage in the area is touch and go, in general) and if you want constant arctic A/C set at 68, you may not enjoy the open air Hawaii breezes of your room. It is about a 15 min drive to Kapp'a and really located in a good place. I wish I could be laying in the hammock, looking at the mountains-- right now!

Room Tip: West room has hot tub plus very beautiful outdoor shower. It seems to be a bit more private than th...

It s our second trip on Kauai and we choose to stay n the north shore for the beauty of this part of island. The palmwood was above all our expectations. The places fantastic: not really far from the main road but sufficiently to forget it, easy to access. The house is beautiful: exteriors and interiors. The view are scenic. We opted for the suite 1 st floor: perfect and large, nice bedroom, nice and confortable terrace, a dressing room ( easy when you stay few days) and a big large bathroom. The breakfast is really delicious. The hosts are really kind and helpful when you look after an activity, restaurant .....The beaches are not far and really more " secret" than farther north. Really one of the best option on this coast.

Room Tip: If you need a jacuzzi and outdoor bathroom: gardens room, if you prefer the scenic view, first floor
