Our family went to vacation in Kauai and stayed at this resort and we loved it for several reasons:
1) location is central enough - easy drive up north and to southwest.
2) views and pool - you just have to see and enjoy it.
3) very open and large place
4) landscaping is relaxing
5) onsite restaurants at great - especially at Dukes. ...or walk a bit further for a small burger joint or the best gelato in town (beside Abc)

We made the great choice selecting this resort. If you want to just relax and do nothing, there is plenty of room in the pool or go to the beach to body surf (few steps from the pool) or drive out north or south to Poipu.

Got it on great deal - sweet :)

We had a great time at this resort. I thought Kauai and the Marriott might be a let down after spending 3 weeks on Bora Bora and neighbouring islands, but everything was beautiful on the resort and the island. The lobby, gardens (water falls and koi pond) and pool were beautifully designed and a pleasure to stroll through. Sorry, but I wasn't excited about the ocean view, nothing special after Bora Bora, and we were glad not to have wasted money on an ocean view room.

We opted for a standard room and were happy with that as we spent next to no time in our room. This was the quietest room I have ever stayed in, the bed was very comfortable, and I had everything I needed, hairdryer, ironing board, pull out clothes line in the bath, coffee maker, etc. They provide an empty bar fridge which you can fill your self with drinks and snacks. The only negative was that the bathroom light turns on the hall light so you will wake up your partner if you go to the bathroom at night. We discovered a flash light in the closet and used it for late night trips to the bathroom.

One thing I loved was the coin operated washer and dryers, it was fantastic to have clean machine washed clothes after our 3 weeks of hand laundering. It is also great to be able to dry bathing suits before the trip home. I think I paid under $4. one load, soap, washer and dryer.

The staff were pleasant and professional, they were able to get us into our room a couple of hours early as we were sleep deprived after an overnight flight. We were given cards to access the pool and change rooms while we waited for our room (we arrived at 11am). They also let us check out a couple of hours late with no charge, amazing!

We were given a voucher for 2 free mai tais which was a nice touch. We didn't eat very much at the resort as we had a rental car and were off site for much of the day. We did eat once at Dukes which isn't owned by the resort and we weren't impressed, my meal was cold and tasted like Costco's precooked ribs. I will say that the interior is nice, the bar features a pond in the middle.

The pool area is very nice, except people reserve the chairs nearest the pool and then disappear for hours which is unfortunate if you arrive later in the morning, I left my towel on the chair for about 15 minutes while I went back to the room get something and someone stole it while I was gone, go figure! What I didn't like about this resort/pool was that there is no shade by the pool and very little on the beach. If you don't want to risk skin cancer you have to rent one of their lounge chairs with a canopy for $60-90 per day.

The location of the hotel is excellent, it is a short drive from the airport, but we never heard the planes. There are a number of restaurants and shops within walking distance of the resort. If you have a car there is a mall nearby with a large sports store if you need beach wear, snorkel or surf equipment, Costco, Walmart and Kmart are also within 5 minutes drive. The location is also good if you want to do day trips to either the north or south shore, the extremes of the island are no more than 1.5 hours away. The distances aren't far, but the speed limits are from 20 to 50 miles, so it is very, very, very, very, slow going! If there is one reason we wouldn't return to Kauai it would have to be the slow driving.

If you go to Kauai, be sure to rent a car and visit the sites, the canyon, the north shore (book a boat tour of the Napali coast), go hiking (try the MAHAULEPU BEACH TRAIL http://www.kauai.com/mahaulepu-beach-trail, it is easy and beautiful), etc. It is a nice resort, but you will miss out on the best this island has to offer if you just sit around the hotel.

The Kauai Marriott Resort is an absolutely beautiful place to stay. The views of the pool and the ocean are just spectacular and the location is perfect so you are able to enjoy both places whenever you want. The staff at the hotel are top notch; from housekeeping who were super friendly to the folks at the towel hut, to the servers at the Kalapaki Grill and the people at the front desk, I always felt very welcomed and taken care of throughout our stay. We loved having the mini kitchens and available BBQs as it made it very easy to dine in our rooms when needed or just keep food on hand. We loved being able to bring our own drinks down to the pool & we took advantage of the blender that came with the room to do so!

The only reason I don't rate the hotel with five stars is because of problems we had with the hot tub. The only time that we used it, my cousin and I got out of the hot tub and found that our bathing suits were ruined because of the chemicals, which had turned the color of the suits. I later discovered my rings had been almost ruined and even the clothes we put on afterwards were stained with chemicals which then in turn stained our skin. Even after washing our suits and clothes, we found that the colors were ruined, which was extremely disappointing because they were brand new (bought for the trip!). Fortunately the stains at least washed off our skin after a few showers. Had it not been for that I would absolutely give this hotel five stars. It is a beautiful place to go and enjoy paradise!!! I highly recommend it, you just might want to stay away from the hot tubs.

Room Tip: The rooms on the higher floors have tremendous views of the beach and bay.

The setting is incredible. The restaurants are fantastic! Prime rib hash for breakfast at Kukui's was delicious. The food at The Kalapaki Grill was great. The Mai Tais and Piña Coladas were tremendous. Dinner at Duke's was the same, always great experience which we have come to expect. The pool is mind-boggling large. The beds set a whole new standard for posh, away-from-home comfort! STAY HERE!

We went here for two nights and had great time .
Very good dining options faces the beach.
During the day you can lay on the beach, or grass that's facing the beach , or at pool side.
They have waitress for good and drinks everywhere .
Pool looks very beautiful at night and water is so nice.
The resort has big gift shop, art gallery etc only the problem is if you want to leave the hotel you can not really walk anywhere so you need a rental car to get around .

The Marriott resort is beautiful and very clean. The pool and beach are wonderful. Kalapaki Bay is a very protected bay so the beach was perfect. The location is great for exploring the island and for being close to the main city for any shopping you need to do.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the ice machine. Very loud.

If you are looking for moderately priced accommodations in Hawaii that are close to all parts of the island, then the Marriott is a good choice. The rooms were large and seem updated. The pool area was large and never felt crowded. The beach area is nice too. The staff was friendly and helpful. The grab and go on the terrace was a great option.

Room Tip: Pool and partial ocean view on the higher floors have a nicer view.
