“Glad we stayed here!”
Reviewed 30 August 2014

I went on my honeymoon to this resort Aug 2014. After reading some of the negative reviews on this resort I was a little skeptical to stay here but we stayed here anyway. I AM GLAD WE DID. The location is great if you want to travel to all sides of the Island. The resort never seemed crowded and the pool is huge! The resort ( pool, rooms, etc. ) were always clean. The staff was friendly. The beach was great and again not crowded. There are numerous places to eat close by ( walking distance). Also there is a Tavern located behind Dukes that has cheap drinks $3 for a beer after a long day.

Room Tip: we stayed in the "pool view" room but we also had an excellent view of the ocean/ beach

We are leaving in a few hours from our week-long stay at the Kauai Marriott Resort and we're already missing this wonderful hotel. The staff are polite, friendly and helpful. The beach is mere steps away and is not overcrowded like some of the beach experience in Waikiki and other parts of Hawaii. And the swimming pool... oh... the swimming pool. It is absolutely massive. We thought the swimming pool at the Hilton Village on Oahu was big. This is the most spectacular pool we have ever visited. Essentially, it is a giant ring of connected pools with an island in the middle and 5 separate hot tubs along the periphery of the main pool. The best part is that it is 4 feet deep from edge to center, making it easy for families with young children.

The room we stayed in was clean and modern and the "partial ocean" view gave us an unobstructed view of the pool, beach and bay beyond. At night, there were so many stars visible, it was almost unreal.

The Marriott does a lot of the small things right. We got coffee bags replenished every morning for our in-suite coffee maker. Most hotels don't offer this simple convenience and having a freshly brewed cup of coffee got us off on the right foot every morning. The wireless internet was the best we've ever experienced at any hotel anywhere from LA to Las Vegas to Florida to Hawaii. There was no problem streaming Netflix anywhere in our room or the property.

Another fantastic aspect of staying at the Marriott is its proximity to the airport - less than a 10 minute trip. The Marriott even sends a shuttle to and from the airport upon request at any time of the day or night - without charge. We used their service to take a helicopter tour leaving from the commuter airport which is some distance from the main airport terminal. The helicopter touring operation obviously has nothing to do with the Marriott but the hotel staff and shuttle driver gave us no problems whatsoever when we asked to be dropped off and picked up from the helicopter company.

The Lamont's gift and sundry shop located at the Marriott is well-stocked but is a little pricey. Still we bought a lot of snacks and knick-knacks from the store over the week. Try buying a small tub of ice cream and sitting in the covered lounge chairs overlooking the pool and beach for a nice way of spending the evening hours as the sun sets.

The only minor complaint is the relative lack of food options. The food which is served by the hotel whether in one of their restaurants, bars or the poolside grill was universally very good but by the end of the week, we were looking to try something new. Duke's restaurant is at the edge of the property and was very good as well but again is a little on the pricey side.

Overall, this proved to be one of the best vacations we've ever had. Highly recommended.

We have stayed at this property several times and the one thing that always distinguishes it from other resorts is the service. There is a sincere and welcoming spirit that is easily witnessed throughout the property. From the shuttle driver to Gina who is always there to great us at breakfast. She is so friendly and one of the reasons we like to visit this resort. We want to especially acknowledge Hannah, one of the front desk managers, who assisted us in resolving a misunderstanding related to our reservation. She listened and was very patient. Her smile never left her face the entire time. This team goes above and beyond to ensure that each guest has an exceptional time and that is why we will return again and again.

Room Tip: Request the Kahili Tower for the best view

Seeing pictures of the pool drew us to this hotel and it did not disappoint. We had spent 4 days at Aulani prior to coming to Kauai so we wanted relaxation and we definitely got it. The staff around the pool was great and very attentive. We were unsure about booking here feeling the quality might not be as good as the Hyatt but it was much more affordable. Whlie we were there we saw a famous celebrity couple staying there and thought if it was good enough for them, then we are in the right place. The only downfall was trying to find a spot in the lot closest to our room. It is open to the public during the day so they take up a lot of spots. I wish guests had priority over beach goers. The Sunday buffet was decent but that was the only meal we ate on property. We like to go out and explore the island and found a lot of good places to eat rather than staying at the hotel. Overall we had a great experience here and would stay again.

I was really on the fence between booking at the Marriott or the Hyatt on Kauai...having stayed at the Hyatt before, I knew what to expect there but had never stayed at the Marriott. I know this is a relatively common debate for people staying on Kauai. There are definitely pros and cons to each. The best things about the Marriott are central location, nice swimmable beach, great pool, and lower cost vs Hyatt. On the flip side, the Marriott is a bit more dated (could use some updating particularly in common areas and bathrooms), and isn't as private/secluded feeling as a larger resort like the Hyatt. The service provided by the staff was also very good and beyond my expectations. Overall, I was pleased with my stay at the Marriott, but if you are a first time visitor to Kauai I'd recommend doing the same so you can get a feel for both. Also loved having Duke's right next door, which really came in handy for a nice beachfront happy hour each day. Also consider buying floaties at the activity stand (less than $10 ea) to use for floating around the bay - this was also a favorite thing to do.

Great location, great views, large pool, excellent to go with kids, and big family.
Amazing nature within the hotel premises including a very nice pools and gardens, beautiful scenes of nature. Romantic sea side, a few medium quality restaurants. you will not be disappointed. Rooms are large and comfortable. However, understand part of the hotel is renovated, thus ask for new rooms, corner rooms are better isolated therefore more private.
A huge area , long walking distances between the activities.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms which are renovated! A/C very noisy, old furniture in most rooms The walls are...

Great location, friendly staff. The was was bright and airy. Pool was huge, and its next to Kalapaki Beach. Close to everything, you dont even have to leave the property since there are may restaurants that you can go to basically next to the hotel. I really enjoyed my stay here, very relaxing. The hotel grounds was expansive, greenery just like I picture Kauai should be. Definitely will be booking my stay here again. Maybe next time for pleasure so I can enjoy all tbe ammeneties tbe hotel have to offer, or just even relax at the pool or beachside. Highly recommended to all.
