We booked this hotel through hotwire bidding on what we were told was a 4 star hotel. I would actually rate it a solid 3 star hotel due to its nice outside areas. The bed in the first room we were
given was way to soft, but was good in the next room we were given. You are somewhat isolated as other reviews have stated, so you will need a car to go to a swimming beach or shopping. On our first day, the pools were almost empty and were very relaxing. However, the next few days, all the pools were overrun by children everywhere and were too noisy to enjoy. One important item to note, I believe this hotel may be contracted with a number of airlines in case of cancellations or people being bumped. This was the case when when are inlaws american airlines flight was cancelled and 300 passengers were sent to this hotel. Due to the unexpected influx of guests, the hotel was sorely understaffed, and while their emplyees maintained their aloha spirit, the wait time for any type of service was extremely slow.
Overall, if you do not mind a lot of kids running around, this hotel provides a cheap and convenient alternative to the mega resorts on the island.

Kaua'i Beach Resort one of Kauai's best-kept secrets. We've gone many times since 2000. Do we want the world to know? - it's by the beach (not swim beach, but walk to Lydgate), golf course, great pools, off main road so very quiet, 15 kinds of fowl/birds, 10 minutes to airport, close to Kapa'a for groceries or Coldstone Creamery/Starbucks, near road to anywhere, and near river for recreation, Hotel has gift shop/drug store, restaurant. Unlike north shore, Kaua'i Beach stands alone, not a view of suburb-looking buildings nearby. And it has its own lagoon. How cool is that? Shh!

Room Tip: Would avoid pool side because of noise, ocean view can come with glare.

This hotel is beautiful in every way. It isn't a luxurious hotel but very Island chic. The rooms are very comfortable and the decorations updated. Granite countertop in the bathrooms and very clean overall. The rooms are exactly as you see it in the site. The staff are excellent in helping the guest have a comfortable stay. Even when the hotel was busy they were still very polite and kind. We stayed at this hotel last year for a month and came back again for 1 week this year. The pool and jaquazzi are great and the ocean is few steps away for a swim. Although if your new the island the swimming in the ocean is fairly limited to few places over all as the tide waves can get high. The only challenge was with the kitchen they didnt substitue salad for frenchfries. Not a big deal but when your staying there for a month it can get a bit pricey and waste of food when we had to order an extra salad and toss the fries away. This year we noticed they were Seemed to be more open to that which we were very grateful for it. The other is location although central to both sides of the island and all the great areas, kappa is a good 10-15 were all the little stores are, they do offer some kind of shuttle service not certain to where and the price as we rented a car through out our stay. Also the bar area offers music in the evening. Although i did rate it high on spa, but we didnt get any services there, did Use the sauna Few times and the fitnness room they were both great. Definitely recommend this hotel. Mahalo everyone at the restort for making our stay a wonderful memory.

Room Tip: We liked quiet so we asked for a none joint room in the towers that are away from the main building reception area facing the oposite side of the pool area. They are a bit pricier but ocean view in that side is a lot quieter than the other side but if you have kids, then having the room facing the pool area maybe better that way you can watch over the kids. As the first floor literally opens to the pool.

We were really happy to find how nice a place this was. We have always stayed at all inclusive in the past and were surprised how beautiful the grounds were and how well kept. The pool area is second to none. You could leave the sliding glass door open in our building 3 room and let the waves put you to sleep. I am not a fan of the mega plex hotels so this one was right up my alley. The beach to the left was as good as any I saw on the island. You could walk all the way to Lydgate and hardly see anyone. The big name beaches up north and south are nice but I would say in my opinion this is the one to go to if you want ocean and not bay. Only Polihale State Beach on the west topped it. The staff was probably the most friendly I have every dealt with. Even the bellman saying as we were leaving, Thanks for staying with us, sticks in my mind. So if the big crowds are not your thing, this might be the place for you.
Spotty

Room Tip: Building four closest to beach. Building three or four poolside will get you an ocean view. Always ask for pool side view

The condo is pretty old fashioned. It's for older people. Can't do anything at the resort. Boring. Must travel or drive to eat out. The beach is not swimmer friendly. Strong waves.... Stay at the north shore... It's more fun there! More activities...
