A perfect place to land and unpack your stress. The staff is friendly, helpful and caring. The grounds are pristine with multiple pools, colorful landscaping and designed so you catch a breeze at every turn. The room was very clean and plush. Let the puffy cloudlike pillows cuddle your head and the scruptious immense towels wipe away the mainland. Early in the morning open the sliding glass door to your room's lanai and watch the swaying palms and listen to the chirping birds. When the roosters start to crow it's time to go down for breakfast. The food is very good-the best hash browns I have ever had and the hamburger was delicious and large. Actually, all the food I had was reasonably priced and very good. Be there on the right day and the resort provides a one-hour hula show with music and free mai tais around the pool! I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Mine looked out over the lagoon and it was quiet and scenic.

I picked this resort off the Internet and didn't know much about it. It was perfect for me! It is the only resort in this area,so the beach area is secluded and goes on forever. The scenery around the beach is breathtaking. I booked a room with a beach view and got one off to the side which was ok since the breezes off the ocean can be strong,at times. My room was up to date, clean and cozy, the staff was friendly and service was good. The swimming pools were too cold to swim in at this time of year,(January)but I was more interested in walking on the beach and laying out in the sun. The food at the restaurants was good, but a bit pricey. There are a lot of great restaurants down the road in Kapaa, and you will need a car to get around, unless you are there for a short time. They do have an airport shuttle. Valet service is extra, but well worth it. Some friends from a cruise ship visited me and were very impressed with what they saw. The concierge can arrange any tours--and you have to take the helicopter tour,if you do nothing else. The rates, through Travelocity, were so reasonable,it was hard to believe.
If you want to get away from it all, enjoy the simple, more Hawaiian-like atmosphere, and want quiet and seclusion this is the place for you. I feel I was very fortunate to spend 16 days on the beautiful island of Kauai and would return again and again.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a lanai with a beach view,if you like to see the ocean--although the ocean is 50-60 ya...

We stayed here 4 nights on our honeymoon and can say that this is a nice resort at a fair price. Our room was clean and comfortable, and renovated within the last couple years. Our malfunctioning TV was fixed within an hour of calling the front desk, and the free wifi in the lobby was nice considering that a lot of hotels charge for it. The breakfast buffet costs a few extra bucks, but it was always nice to start the day with a good meal and watch the sun come up over the ocean.

Like many of the beaches on the east coast of Kauai, the surf is high so swimming is not recommended at the resort. Plan to go elsewhere if the pools aren’t enough for you. This resort is in a great location if you want to explore Kauai since there aren’t any roads that go entirely around the island. They’re 10 minutes from the airport and less than an hour to just about anywhere on the island.

Welcoming staff and easy parking makes a great venue for locals and visitors. Good salad with dinner. Better food value in the bar. Pool with slide and sand bottom for windy days that are not ocean safe.

We just got back from a week on Kauai and had the pleasure of staying at the Kauai Beach Resort during our trip. We chose the hotel due to the location (less than 10 minutes from the airport) and because of the swimming pools (they have 4 pools and one of them is a kiddie-pool with sand). My son LOVED swimming in the kiddie wading pool (he's a toddler) because the water was warm and it was shallow (about 1.5 feet deep). We loved that there was easy access to head down to the regular beach from the hotel if we wanted to go beach combing and that the pool had an outdoor bar. Overall our stay was great! We would definitely stay here again. This was our second time staying at this hotel!

Pros
- The gift shop has an espresso bar that makes decent lattes. (Tip: Try an iced macadamia nut latte next time you're in town!)

- The swimming pools were clean and never crowded.

- The hotel was very close to the airport.

- The room was clean and I never saw any roaches. :)

Cons
- They're doing construction on the parking lot so the parking situation is a little inconvenient . Some of the parking is paved but most of it is not so when it rains there's a lot of muddy puddles to walk through to get to your car. The parking rate for self park was $12.95/day.

- There is only 1 full service restaurant at the hotel and it's only open for breakfast and dinner so for lunch the only food option was the outdoor pool bar which doesn't serve anything healthy. Mostly fried food and appetizers like nachos. Not great if you're trying to watch what you eat.

- Some of the rooms are located in buildings that are pretty far away from the main building. We got put in a room in building 4 which is near the ocean (great ocean view) but super far away from the main building and parking lot. It made even simple trips to and from the car somewhat of a quest. If you don't want to walk long distances to get to/from your car you might consider asking for a room in the main building.

- The pillows were a little too soft for me. Small complaint but thought I would mention it in case anyone else out there is particular about their pillows.

- The hotel staff could have been nicer. The bartenders in the outdoor bar didn't seem very interested in being friendly with guests, but on a good note, the waitstaff in the hotel restaurant were great!

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building are more convenient that rooms in some of the adjacent buildings. We got...

We stayed here for 5 days and overall were very pleased. Service was very good and the location on the East Coast close to airport and as a jumping off point to North or South and West sides of island great. Has direct beach access and you can walk both ways. Saw some plastic on hotel beach area but may have just come in with tide; hope they regularly clean this. Resort is only one in this location which is nice. Different pool areas and beach/pool bar were clean. Not a lot of lounge chairs however. Hot tubs were actually hot which is a big plus for me!

Had a Pool View room which was nice with some oceanview too. Some areas of room needed paint but overall ok. No free room internet - wi-fi free public area. Don't know the cost as I refuse to pay for it.

Parking: The long delayed covered parking area is finally done. Self-park is still $12.95/day. Fairly long walk to this area. Valet parking area in same area and closer; not sure about price. Never saw vlaet parking area full but there were times self-parking area full and 'overflow area' on dirt field.

Nice Hawaiian music and dance show one night with free drinks a nice bonus.

Ate in both Shutters and Dining Room and service and food were very good and prices competitive to area.

Booked with Expedia with a care purchase and got a good dea.

Our first trip to Kauai. Resort was suggested by our travel agent. Not too expensive and not too cheap, on the beach. We were in building #3, first floor. Room was very clean, beds were comfy, everything in the room worked fine. I mentioned to one of the housekeepers that my husband liked the coffee they had provided and she left us extra the next day. K.P. and Efron. The lounge bartenders were awesome! They had all kinds of suggestion for local eatting places and off the grid sightseeing. K.P. rocked!!!! What a nice, personable guy. All & all our stay was great and we really enjoyed the resort. It was clean, well maintained, and the staff was very nice. Parking was a issue but hey they had construction going on on the parking area. They allowed us valet parking everyday for the self park rate. The day we left the new parking area opened so I'm sure some of those issues are resolved. We would stay here again.
