“Ten Days at the Kauai Beach Resort”

We and two other couples spent ten nights here for our April anniversaries. Everything
was very nice. We were a bit disappointed with our beachview rooms. Although I would not
want the palm trees cut down, they did obscure our view. Other than that and the very windy,
somewhat cool weather, all was good!

Room Tip: We were on the third floor, but the palm trees were still an issue. Try to see a diagram of the ho...

The location is great as it is close to the airport (rental cars and helicopter tours) and the Kukui Grove shopping center (take out food, cases of beer and what ever else you want). The resort offers a free shuttle to and from the airport all day long and has a free shuttle to and from the shopping center several times a day starting at 9am.
The pools are nice and clean with waterfalls,a water slide and a saltwater/ freshwater pool by the pool bar. There are plenty of lounge chairs (pick the softer ones if your there to lay out all day). The beach is not nice at all, corral, rocks and warning signs of "man of war". This resort is not for the beach people its for people who like to relax by the pools.
Very nice resort overall with a friendly staff, the woman that cleaned our room was so nice and polite and some of the shuttle drivers were very nice too. We booked the room with the buffet breakfast plan and that was great, better than paying for it every day.

Room Tip: Bottom floor on corners by the pool.

Stayed here our last night of Kauai after staying in Princeville for a week and then being bumped on our flight home. Called the hotel at 10 pm and the shuttle arrived 10 min later. The shuttle driver was very friendly, check-in was a breeze and all the other staff that we encountered were very welcoming. Beds were very comfortable and our room very clean. Breakfast buffet was good. There are plenty of different pools, waterfalls and even a waterslide for the kids. This is a beachfront hotel but the beach here is rocky and not recommend for swimming. If you're looking to hang out at the beach, rent a car and drive up the highway a few miles. I'd stay here again and next time I'll make it a longer stay.

This was our first time in Kauai and the place was fabulous. The location was so convenient....near the airport and on the beach. Friendly staff....very welcoming. When we arrived we were just in time for complimentary drinks and a hula show. The pool was very refreshing and the pool bar was great and convenient as well. The restaurants were great too both catering to breakfast crowds as well as nightly entertainment. The only downfall was the parking situation (having to pay for parking and location is a bit too far) but everything else compensates for it. Another thing to keep in mind was that our air conditioner was acting up so a little too hot for comfort but didn't call because we were only there for 3 days. Otherwise good experience.

The best thing about the resort is the location.. Very close to the airport and other scenic locations..Although the dining places close up real quick... excellent swimming and spa facilities.. really enjoyed the pool area and very relaxing stay.. Can improve on service though..

This is not the place to stay if you're looking for a a relaxing, upscale beach resort type of vacation.

Service: The front desk staff have been consistently underwhelming in their delivery of good service. Every interaction with them has been cold and unwelcoming. However, the valet and bell hop staff have been excellent.

Facilities: the resort itself seems pretty average. pool and common areas are clean, but not anything special. Grand Hyatt and Sheraton in Poipu are far better. The resort is oceanfront but dont plan on spending much time on the beach. It is a very small beach and not very conducive to spending time there. We usually went to Poipu beach instead

We arrived on Sunday 5/25/14 over Memorial Day Weekend and had to spend a few hours waiting by the pool before being able to check into our room. Our first impressions were not good. Although the property grounds and pool area seem to be decently maintained, the place was overrun by 5-15 year old kids. There must have been over a 100 kids in and around the pool. And nothing against kids, but when you're on a relaxing getaway, that many kids around the pool does not equal relaxation. In fact, this review is being written at 11pm because its impossible to sleep due to the noise coming from the pool area.

We came to find out that the resort was being heavily occupied by both a little league baseball tournament as well as a young girls modelling show. go figure...that explains the overcrowding of loud kids at the pools.

"Ocean View Rooms"
After waiting 2.5 hours by the pool area, we finally grew tired of the chaotic pool scene and asked to see if a room was available for check-in. The cold front desk employee proceeded to check us into our room and handed us our keys. No information given about the resort, fitness center, restaurants, etc. I had to ask several questions...just to get basic info.

We eventually made it to our room in building 3 hoping to seek a more relaxing environment from the pool area which was more like a waterpark in the middle of summer at this point (screaming kids everywhere). We were very dissapointed to find out that the only way to get an "oceanview" from our room was to hang over the balcony railing and crane your neck to maybe get a glimpse of the ocean. This "ocean view" was more like a view of a dirt field and some trees. Odd number rooms in Building 3 will NOT be ocean view, despite the front desk saying they are. We were able to have our room switched to one where the balcony overlooked the pools and ocean area. However, being that the pools were still overrun with obnoxiously loud kids (and their drunk parents at this point) it was not very easy to get sleep until the place cleared out well after 11pm.

Bottom line. This place seems perfect for families. if you're looking for something more upscale/relaxing...look elsewhere. Its fine if you plan on spending most of your time on the island out exploring. We definitely wont be spending much of our stay here..

Room Tip: ocean view is a very misleading term here.

I love this hotel. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. Our hotel room was clean. In the morning, it was really awesome to watch the sunrise by the ocean. It was great walking by the beach. I always dreamed of seeing Hula dancing by real Hawaiians. I was so blessed because at the time we stayed in the hotel, they had welcome party for guests. Their were Hula dancers and they perform for the guests. It was a dream come true for me. I had a relaxing time here just watching the waves of the ocean. However, I was not able to swim in the ocean because it looked like it was not safe to swim, but, they have a big pool to compensate for the rough sea.
