No one mentioned nor was standing by to collect the admission. We thought it was free until a lady came running at us... "You can't come in if you don't pay 10.00!!" OK OK!!!! There are a few things to see and it is interesting to know more of the culture. It is not a place I would visit again and could easily have passed on going now that I know what is inside.

Not a modern interactive display museum but one that is homey, traditional and well worth a stop. Kauai's historic families, sugar production, missionaries, royalty, all rolled into several island style buildings in the center of Lihue. Small admission and nice gift shop.

My family are inveterate museum goers. We never saw a museum we didn't like. Having said that, this is a small local attempt to present local history in a straight-forward old-fashioned way. No fancy interactive exhibits here, but fun facts and artifacts. Take an hour. Nice gift shop.

If you go to only one place to learn about Hawai'ian or Kaua'i history, this should be it. From ancient geology to the Polynesian settlements, the Brits, US and Asian settlers, it gives you a great overview. The artifacts are impressive and even the kids liked it.

This museum really gives you the step by step introduction to Kauai history. I mainly saw the annex in the back that was RICH with abundant Kauai history and culture .. loved all the artifacts that truly anchor you to the physical culture ... I loved to see and feel it. Thank you for preserving this wonderful, unique history of these magical isles!
