Description: On the sand at Kalapaki Beach, Duke’s is dedicated to legendary surfer Duke Kahanamoku, Hawaii’s Ambassador of Aloha. The restaurant’s open-air design offers stunning, sweeping ocean views while the 30 foot waterfall plunges into a koi pond below that meanders through the tables. Enjoy a leisurely lunch, romantic dinner, or tropical cocktail in a fun, friendly atmosphere.

“HI tradition”

Never dined at a Duke's restaurants before, but this was exactly like I imagined a Hawaiian restaurant to be like.
On the night we dined it was a nice quiet atmosphere. Food was good and reasonable priced for the setting.
Afterwards we walked around the Marriot which was also attractive.

“Just OK”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2014

We came for the same reason as many others - location, location, location. I had never eaten at a Dukes before - and found it just average. Yes there is a salad bar - not all that amazing, unless you are an "all you can eat" fan. 3 types of rolls, 3 pasta salads, 2 muffins - carbs ruling the day. I had the opah, macadamia encrusted, lemon caper sauce - it was quite salty. The taro cakes appetizer was visually attractive, but not flavorful.. garlic mashed potatoes were good. Total tourist spot, you can try here but very pricy for only average food.

“Duke's needs some attention”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2014

If you have eaten at Duke's you know it has a great location and is capable of great food. Unfortunately it seems that the staff knows that as well, and they have decided to do the bare minimum. We have eaten at Duke's several times, mostly due to the proximity to Kalapaki Circle where we stay. But this last week, we were very disappointed. Everything that could go bad ...did...we were told 30 minutes for a table, which turned into 50. A small table for 4 rather than one for 5....it took the server forever to get to us, and when our food finally came out it was so staggered that my wife and daughter were almost finished before the rest of us had our food.

The location is great and the sister restaurants are very well run, something needs to get corrected with this one....the staff is really mailing in their service.

“Every visit to Kauai includes Duke's”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014 via mobile

Have been coming to the Garden Isle for a decade, and every visit we have to have at least two meals here! The buffet salad bar is top notch, but what stands out is the five kinds of FRESH fish prepared five different ways! My wife loves the Ono served macadamia nut crusted. I prefer the opah with the citrus salsa, but they are all great. Rarely have room for the hula pie, but it is great. All the tables are good, but for a special occasion make reservations early and request a table on the rail!

“Great salad bar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

Overall good meal. Entree includes salad bar - great caesar salad. Ordered 16 oz prime rib 'texas style' (seared on grill). Not great - but decent (a bit small for $30 entree). Have to keep in mind you're in Hawaii where prices are high everywhere compared to stateside rates. Would go back to check out HH.
