We moved to the Westin after spending 5 days on Kauai's south shore at the Sheraton. We would get to have a lovely week here at what is a beautifully maintained property. This is a fairly large property with several pools and hot tubs. There is a small market on site with coffee, batteries, suntan oil ect...

We were very pleased to have gotten upgraded from a studio to a one bedroom, Starwood definitely ingratiated themselves to me with that move. We also received a complementary bottle of Champagne as it was our honeymoon. The one bedroom is really a suite. They say its 800 square feet but it feels bigger. Everything in it was very nice. Granite countertops throughout. The washer dryer in the room comes in handy for longer stays like ours. Full kitchen complete with real wine glasses, pots, pans, and grilling tools that come in handy to use on their very nice grills. Our room had a nice hot tub/bath along with a large separate walk in shower.

We enjoyed everything about our stay here at the Westin. Everyone was very accommodating and friendly. The grounds are immaculately kept. When night falls they light what must be over a hundred torches across the property. Later in the night (every night) very late we would see guys out cleaning all the sidewalks with scrubbers. Starwood is working hard to keep this gorgeous property up.

The pools are just awesome. There are several spread out so that each one is close to every building- all with infinity edges. We were surprised that even though the hotel was pretty much completely full very few people actually used the pools. We retreated to them many nights after some very long strenuous, and activate days. Most nights we were either there by ourselves, or maybe one other couple. It was just surreal to float there looking at all the palm trees and torches lit up every night alone in "our" pool.

We only had one meal at the Westin and it was wonderful. It was a Champagne Brunch on Sunday. $29 for a large offering of just about everything plus a few bucks more if you want Champagne. I would highly recommend it.

The Westin makes it easy to grill out. The grills are topnotch. There is a Foodland about a mile away with a good selection of meats and everything else. Gathering around the grill seems to be a social event unto itself every night. We met some great people every time we used them. They have tables by all the grills and many people bring out bottles of wine with big spreads of food and make a night of it.

The Westin beds, that I have heard so much about, are just awesome. Easily the most comfortable hotel bed either of us has ever slept in. We had nice 40 inch (i am guessing its 40) HDTV in the den and another one in the bedroom. Lots of channels to choose from here. One big kudos to Starwood for the fact that they do not charge a resort fee here. Its $9 a day to valet but there are no other extra charges. We used the valet service a lot and they were a super friendly hard working bunch. We had many interactions with the valels-all very pleasant.

If i wanted to be really picky my only complaint would be that the check in desk reserved for Gold/Platinum members at the front is rarely staffed. If one should go up to it, the person behind one of the other counters just looks at you blankly, even if they are not waiting on someone- and even if they have no one in their line. I tried this several times and they just stood where they were looking at me. Eventually they would speak loudly and ask me if I needed anything since they were several feet away but they would never come over. Small glitch I am sure they will address once some there reads this.

I went back and forth wether to book here or the St Regis reading many reviews on TA of each.We did visit the St Regis for a meal (Kauai Grill) though which was awesome, however, for a room as big as what we had here it would have been more than twice what we paid at the Westin. In the end I would rebook here again in a heartbeat. We both had very high hopes for the Westin as it was our honeymoon and it did not disappoint at all. We hope to return back to Kauai and the Princeville Westin soon.

Room Tip: Be a part of the Starwood preferred guest program.

We just returned from 6 nights here and enjoyed our stay. While we were initially disappointed not to have an ocean view, we loved looking out at the garden. Our couple of problems were immediately dealt with by the staff. The pool area was gorgeous. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: We liked building 5 and had a studio room.

We stayed at the Westin for four nights over the summer. We were in a one bedroom suite that overlooked the pool and pretty tiki torches at night. We loved that there were plenty of grills on the property because each night we enjoyed getting fresh fish from the Hanalei Dolphin and bringing it back to the hotel to grill. Our room was always immaculate and cleaned daily. The grounds of this hotel are stellar and the amenities they offer the guests are unlike any other we have seen from other hotels in Kauai, or all of Hawaii. We are pretty spoiled now after staying here. We have decided that we will come back to Kauai only when this hotel is available. After staying here, we just can't stay anywhere else!

We booked this property for one week using our Starpoints and we couldn't have been happier. We had a first floor garden view room in Building 7 and it was perfectly sized for my family with 2 kids (4 years old and 1.5 years old). The rooms have very good sound dampening - I couldn't hear my neighbors next to us or above us at all. While the 1 BR would have been nice, we were hardly in our room because we were too busy enjoying the resort's amenities and Kauai's awesome scenery!

The resort has a "green" option for foregoing housecleaning in lieu of a $10 voucher that can be used for breakfast at the Princeville Market and lunch and dinner at Nanea. We did this three times during our weeklong stay, picking up breakfast (Anini wrap - delicious).

My children absolutely loved the children's pool. My 4 year old had a great time going down the water slide and my 1.5 year old daughter loved the spraying turtles. We also used the Weber grill once and had a delicious grilled fish for lunch.

While there is no true access to the beach, there are plenty of beach options in the North Shore. Anini Beach is just 15 min. away, Tunnels (Makua), Hanalei Pier, and Ke'e are relatively close also. Excellent snorkeling at Tunnels!

We had a wonderful time here. Staff was very friendly, the amenities are top notch, the resort's grounds and rooms are well-maintained, and the views are spectacular. The only downside (very minor) is the parking situation, but we solved that by dropping off our stuff and kids by the entrance first and then finding a spot.

We would return again in a hearbeat!

General Princeville tips:

*Get your groceries at the Big Save in Hanalei, much cheaper than the Foodland in Princeville.
*Make sure you don't miss the fabulous seafood at Hanalei Dolphin Restaurant, don't forget to order the Rainbow Poke "Martini" and the ahi steak! For dessert, get shave ice at Wishing Well down the road.
*Don't forget about the Hanalei Farmer's Market on Saturdays - get your fresh fruit and vegetables here. Try the starfruit and dragonfruit.
*Follow the resort on Twitter @WestinPOR. They were responsive when I inquired through Twitter before our vacation.

Room Tip: Buildings 6 and 7 are closer to the parking lot but farther away from the main pool and children's pool.
