“A GREAT place to be Island Paradise on Your Own”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

This time-share property is simply a luxe way to spend a week on the Garden Isle on the North Shore. The staff is absolutely Aloha-friendly and the service is superb if you want assistance -- however, the real appeal to myself and partner -- privacy and DIY. We can park and walk-in - no need for valet. We can shop and get FRESH fish from a num ber of fish markets, FRESH papaya, mangoes, pineapples, guavas and more from local Farmer's Markets or any of 20 other shops or purveyors within a 10 minute drive -- and with our own full kitchen we can cook and make our own food or easily heat up delicious leftovers if we eat out in the nearby village, Hanalei or ANY of scores of local eateries.

And if you play golf, a simple walk out the door and you are in your golf cart.

Also, the pool and hot-tub on the water-front side overlooks the Pacific and you can see the Kilauea lighthouse in the distance. Frigate birds hover in the lifts. as a guest of the SPG Westin family of properties, one can valet for free at the St. Regis 2 miles down the road and use their beach facilities as well -- but not their pool.

The best expresso coffee that we found island-wide was in a little almost hole-in-the-wall brekkie place, Lei Petite, a 15 minute walk away in the Princeville Shopping complex. The lovely little town of Hanalei ( sort of SF's The Haight - island style) is 10 minutes away as are scores of island things to do on the North Shore of Kauai.

Room Tip: The garden and ocean view rooms are simply worth it. I recommend 1st or 3rd floors.

Green Features: Recycle is VERY easy and the hotel changes towels and sheets twice a week.

This resort was absurdly amazing and the staff were incredible.

We enjoyed the time we spent on the property and the concierge were extremely helpful in planning our excursions off-property.

I hope to come back someday, it's a long way from England though!

Cliff location in Princeville, large property in fact despite being completely booked, never felt like too many people. Always could find pool chairs in the middle of the day. No crazy people running out to the pool at 6 am to grab a chair. Multiple pool areas. Beautiful room and large well equipped kitchens. Many grills all around property which are maintained pristinely. Beach access is at the St Regis down the road and is on Hanelei Bay. At first I thought I wouldn't like that the beach wasn't right there - did not matter in the least. There is also a public beach with access at the Westin, but the beach at St Regis is quite nice.
Prince golf course borders east side of property, Makaii course borders the west side. There was a wedding one evening and the setting must have made for stunning photos with the pacific for a backdrop.
Friendly, helpful staff, knowledgeable concierge.

Room Tip: We were on a lower room and enjoyed going out the back straight to one of the smaller "quiet&qu...

First time to Kauai and to Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas. Very beautiful. Everything you need. Very comfortable bed and room, gym, many pools and jacuzzis, on site market, bar, restaurant, and spa. Only negative is access to beach. Situated on a cliff, you must plan your day better if you want to get down to a beach. As a Starwood member you can use the St Regis facility and private beach...2 miles away. This resort is quiet yet very family friendly. Staff is super friendly and informative.

Dear TPhage: Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you had a nice stay and enjoyed the amenities at the resort. The resort is located on the ocean bluff in the Princeville Resort area. Although we are not a beachfront resort, there are some of the most beautiful beaches located a short drive from the resort in addition to all of our guests having access to the St Regis Princeville beach. The staff at the resort provides a Beach Guide that has information on the beaches located nearby including facilities available at the beaches, favorite water sport activities, driving directions and ocean safety information. We hope you will choose to stay with us again on your next visit to the islands. Mahalo and Be Well!

We spent a week here with friends, wife and daughter last may and we were lucky to be there before all the schools were out. Kids pool had been redone and my daughter loved the turtles. The feeding of the fish was a hit and we loved to BBQ almost every night. The grounds are immaculate and the staff always had a smile on their face. We got lucky to get a room in the ground floor and my daughter loved our little visitors every morning and she got to feed them. If you stay here you get access to the St. Regis. Just amazing.

Room Tip: Ground floor

Spent 5 nights with the family for spring break. Great pool (multiple pools actually). Also like that the villas have a fully stocked kitchen and available grills to use around the property. The on site 'market' was surprisingly affordable.

If you book your stay here you will be really happy. The service was great from top to bottom. The rooms are very nice and clean and have fully equipped kitchens with modern appliances. The grounds are beautifully kept with most rooms having ocean views. There is a great pool for kids on the property. There are even 2 private pools for adults. This is a perfect location for people with families or couples. Overall, I really enjoyed my vacation at the Westin Princeville and look forward to coming back as soon as possible.
