If you have kids, I strongly recommend upgrading to 1 or 2 bed room villas. We stayed in Bldg 5 / 1 bedroom villa and rooms were nice and clean. No great views from Bldg 5, but close to parking and pools. Also, don't forget to take advantage of visiting beautiful St Regis's grounds - pool and beach access. It is Worth spending some time there.

We stayed at the Westin this summer for 5 nights. If you can, book a room in buildings 3, 6 or 7. They have great ocean views. There's no beach on the property but you can get a shuttle or drive down to the St. Regis a mile way - a sister property.
The service was outstanding in every way, the food at Nanea restaurant was excellent and the resort while full did not feel crowded at all. More so than other Westin's in Hawaii, the staff go out of their way to ensure that guests have a great experience. Must be the friendliness of Kauai. Also, the Prince course is right next to the property and for golf addicts, it's a must-play course. We also ended up meeting a famous TV celebrity on the course.

Aloha ISLACA: Thank you for the great review on your recent 5 night stay. We are pleased that you experienced Nanea Restaurant and the island inspired cuisine. The resort is located on the ocean bluff and although we do not have direct access to the beach, we are surrounded by many of the most beautiful beaches in the islands that are within a short drive from the resort. The staff has a Beach Escape Guide which outlines the nearby beaches including facilities and activities at the beaches, driving directions and ocean safety information. Mahalo for recognizing the staff friendliness who work diligently in ensuring our guests are having a wonderful experience during their stay. We hope to welcome you back soon. Mahalo and Be Well!

My husband and I just returned from our vacation in Kauai, Hi. We also celebrated our 42 wedding anniversary. Prior to our arrival we were in contact with Jennifer, our personal concierge. Although this was a presentation package she wanted to make our stay a great one. She made us aware of the various activities available to us and offered to help arrange them. Upon our arrival we were greeted warmly and were given a gift for our anniversary. Although we were booked in a garden studio, the front desk person made us aware of the upgrade to a one bedroom villa. Through Jennifer we were able to view both accommodations. We opted for the upgrade. Of course it was an extra expense but we loved the extra room and the better view. We stayed in Building 5 which is near the parking lot. From our room if you looked beyond the parking lot you had a view of the golf course and beyond that was the ocean where we experienced wonderful sunsets and sunrise from our balcony. The villa has granite counters and a full kitchen and a six person dining table. The washer was a bit noisy but cleans well and the dryer worked fine, as well as the dishwasher. The bedroom was quite large as was the bathroom area. (If you do not use all of your non-perishable food items, the resort donates them to the less fortunate. The resort itself was quite nice and the grounds well maintained and the flowers and other foiliage are beautiful. There are several grills available for guests to use. There are pools and hot tubs available for adult use only, which was nice. The staff throughout the resort were warm and friendly, many of which greeted us by name. My only disappointment was that there wasn't a beach because the resort is located on a cliff. There is a public beach you can access via a steep path. I neglected to notice that when researching on line. There is a shuttle that will take you and pick you up from the nearby St. Regis were you can partake of many of their amenities. Pool and hot tub access is not available to Westin guests but the St Regis staff were also friendly and helpful. The Princeville Market is a great place to grab a cup of coffee before your morning excursions. They also prepare sandwiches, salads and pizzas. The $13.00 a day parking fee was a little high, I thought but we made good use of the valet service. There is a marketplace nearby to purchase groceries but beware the cost is expensive. If you rent a car and drive to around you can find lower priced food and there are always a farmers market around. Overall we had a great time. I would recommend this resort to my friends and family,

Aloha twinmom53: Congratulations on your recent 42nd wedding anniversary. We are pleased that you chose to stay with us on this special celebration. Thank you for recognizing Jennifer and the great service she provided. The one bedroom villas are spacious units with almost 800 square feet of living space. The villas provide the comforts of home including a fully equipped kitchen, whirlpool tubs, washer/dryer, complimentary high speed internet access and more. Of the 4 resort pools, the Malie pool or serenity pool is designated as a quiet area that many of our guests enjoy. Although the resort has a nightly overnight parking fee, we do not have a resort fee that many resorts charge nor do we charge for high speed internet access in the villas and the resort public areas. Thank you for recommending The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas as a place to stay for your friends and family. We hope to welcome you back soon. Mahalo and Be Well!

The rooms are very nice and maintained. However, carpets could be stretch a little better. They have several swimming pools and hot tubs. The kiddy pool is special with several spouting turtles and a water slide that the kids all love. The landscaping takes your breath away. If you are a golfer you get a discount at the Makai, but be prepared to still pay $360 for two. The Westin is in a good location, but the streets leading to it could use some maintenance. Depending on where you building is located, parking can be a problem because people park at one lot there who are taking the trail to the beach for the day and the space is limited. However, there is valet parking and other parking. The food and drinks are pricey but very good. The room rates are very pricey and the add on to the room rate (taxes, tourism fee, parking fee, etc.) really add up. But, you have a full on kitchen, washing machine and dryer, etc. It makes it very convenient. The kitchens are well stocked for eating in. The beds are super, super comfortable, but the pillows are too soft. There seems to be no end to service people and they respond very quickly to all your desires. This is our second stay at the Westin and we like it very much.

If you compare prices to comparable places it may be a bit higher, but everything in Hawaii is pricey....

Room Tip: Rooms are pretty quiet unless you get some screamers. Really hard to request a room.

My husband and I stayed in a 1 bedroom first floor suite at the Westin in October 2013. The room was amazing and had everything needed for our weeklong stay (other reviews get into detail). The grounds were nicely kept, and plenty of room around the pools to find a nice quiet spot to spend an afternoon.

The key word here is “Quiet”. I am 38 years old, and my husband and I appreciate quiet resorts, however, there was really no socializing while we were there, we aren’t shy, quite outgoing actually, but people just kept to themselves.

We loved grilling our fresh fish from Dolphins, the views from the small cliffside pools are amazing, and sunsets from the tee off green (golf course) are the best! (if you don’t go to the beach at St. Regis).

Northshore is our favorite, so The Westin is perfectly located. Easy walk to the Princeville Center where you can get anything you need, eat some good food, and short drive to all the best snorkel spots.

Northshore favorite spots: Tunnels Beach, the beach at St. Regis, Hanalei Bay Roasters, Makai Golf Course, Queens Bath, Wings over Kauai, and the Kalalau trail.

Dear VIVA_WORLD: Thank you for taking the time to provide a review on the experience from your recent stay. We are delighted that you had a nice weeklong stay. It is nice to hear that you enjoyed the resort amenities including the 20 BBQ grills available to our guests throughout the resort. The North shore of Kaua’i has many of the most beautiful beaches on the island as well as great restaurants and attractions and we are glad that you found time to enjoy many of them. We hope to see you back soon on your next visit to Kaua’i. Mahalo and Be Well!

First I will start stating it is a TIMESHARE Resort. They want you to spend 90 minutes of your trip to listen to them try to sell you a unit for one week a year.
While my husband and I enjoyed the room and location, there is only one restaurant. But the rooms have full kitchen so we went grocery shopping.
My MAJOR issue was the day we left. Up to then the experience was Okay.
Our flight was canceled- crew availability. With the stress of trying to find another flight, and not being able to get one until the next day. We decided to check back into the Westin. It is hard to believe but they doubled the room charge for the few hours we would be there. Such poor taste and customer service. Matthew at check-in asked the manager on duty if he could give us the same rate we had just paid for 7 nights- not like they didn't get our money... but she denied his request. This manager Qian Kaneakua didn't even come out to let us talk with her directly. If this is the way Westin trains their management, why would I want to stay at any of their hotels? Why would any of you? Its as if they take advantage of those when we are kicked down. This totally changed our opinion of traveling to Hawaii. Everyone up to then on the island of Kauai was wonderful. Very laid back, want to please. As tourism is a major economic money maker for them- I guess Westin is different. I would suggest another hotel if you wanted to visit the area.
My suggestion- Don't have your flight canceled!

Room Tip: They will get you to upgrade the room you booked for an add'l $70-100 night. But rooms are nice...

Aloha PghDesert,

Thank you for choosing The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas and for taking the time to share your review with us. We are very sorry that your flight departing Kauai was canceled as that must have been a frustrating experience. Due to the special nature of your original room rate and the island's high demand period for travel, our team extended the best available rate for an additional night. We apologize that a manager was unable to speak with you personally as we do our best to attend to each guest request. We welcome all guest feedback so that we may learn how to continually improve the guest experience, and should you wish to discuss your stay further, we invite you reach out at your convenience. Mahalo.
