The old Princeville Hotel now the St Regis is new in name but basically is the same as the old PV hotel. And I mean OLD.
The bar area used to be a great place to hang out, but now it is just an area filled with sofas and chairs in the lobby area. Not sure if it is because of the reconfiguration of the lobby or not.
Trying to get to the beach is a labyrinth of hallways and elevators.
Worn carpet hallways and old tired (and a little dirty) elevators.
The biggest change is they have at least doubled the price of everything.
The Makana Terrace does have a fantastic view, but the selection is small, and like the Sunday buffet, way over priced. I can not guess why they do not have a true gourmet experience at this supposed Five Star hotel.
I rarely give a bad review, but I have to warn the unsuspecting traveler.
There are other choices, but true there is no better choice 'in' Princeville.
Maybe the Westin is an option. They have free shuttles to the St Regis.
My suggestion is to stay at the Grand Hyatt in Poipu and drive up to the St Regis.
Go. Look. Stay elsewhere.
It is not a "Gotta Go" kinda place.
