Certificate of Excellence

The hotel was excellent. I read all the reviews before we went and the renovation was excellent.
No complaints for a beach resort. The views are incredible and the snorkeling at the beach with kids was fun. Even though the reef looks dead, we saw lots of fish and had a close encounter with a sea turtle two days in a row. The room was clean and the breakfast buffet included in our room was excellent. You end up eating all your lunches at the pool restaurant and that is ok for the first few days but menu gets old quick. We found that the dinner was overpriced but you are at the remote end of the island at a St. Regis, what do you expect. However, we found great dinner options outside of the hotel and the best was the Hanalei Dolphin. The Mediterranean Gourmet was also good for dinner and the Tavern for lunch was nice change close by.

For family activities outside the hotel, we did the ZipLine, Helicopter ride and went and shot sporting clays. The best treat was trying the lunch trucks on the side of the road. Our favorite was the Green Pig and a close second was Chicken in a Barrel BBQ. We ate our way around the island and have no complaints. We have been to Maui and Lanai and I think that we would come back to Kauai again first. It does rain for a short time each day but that is not a problem and the constant temp range between 65 & 75 is awesome. Never to hot or to cold.

Overlooking the Hanalei Bay, in the North shore of Kauai, nothing has been overlooked. One of the best 10-day vacation ever. Not even the almost constant rain interfered.
The rooms are luxurious, bathrooms with no more space for marble and granite, and the cool window that gives you privacy at the flip of a switch.
Cool restaurants, but don't let your table unattended during breakfast at the amazing terrace, unless you are a bird lover!
The multiple, long hallways are confusing in the beginning, but once you get used to them, nothing matters.
Gyms (plural) are perfect.

Aloha LuisC,

Thank you for sharing your recent Hawaiian getaway experience with us. What better place to spend 10 days of vacation than on the North Shore of Kauai. Mother nature truly took her time when creating our amazing mountain range and Hanalei Bay. We are pleased to hear your stay was exceptional and it would be our pleasure welcome you back for many years to come.

As I start to write this review, I find it necessary to pause, as the recollection of the scenery encountered in this part of Kauai requires me to take a moment.... Yes, it really is that beautiful. Breathtaking views of the rugged yet green North shore, Hanalei Bay, and Pacific ocean greet you at every turn. And, to be honest, the scenery, and the hotel's ability to take advantage of that scenery, is what gives this place its 5 star rating.

In truth, we had a bit of a rocky start. We were originally assigned a 10th floor mountain view with a balcony. The room was fine, and the balcony was large, but upon seeing what we were missing with the water views, however, we asked if we could switch to a water view. The hotel graciously accommodated by giving us a room several hours later with a water view (we had arrived before check-in, so the wait was no big deal). What was a big deal, however, was that the "water view" they gave us was obstructed by a building and a nearby view of a hallway. We had been told that this was the only water view available, so we went online, and quickly found that, not only were there other water views being advertised, but these rooms were available at a lower rate than what we were paying. My husband took a picture of our "view", and we headed back to the lobby. As if by magic, they located another room for us, and this one was fine. It was on the third floor, overlooking the pool and Hanalei Bay. It did not have a balcony (most water view rooms at the resort lack a balcony), but the view was prettier than any postcard I had seen in a very long while.

The room itself was very comfortable and spacious. The bed was loaded with pillows and very inviting. The bathroom was beautiful, though it lacked storage. The televisions were updated flat screens. The mini-bar fridge was empty, but this was fine for us, as we had a place to keep our water, etc. cold. We enjoyed the close proximity to the pool.

Speaking of that pool.... it was heated!!!! (Most pools on the island are not heated-- the body adjusts, but I enjoyed the heated pool, nonetheless). Just past the pool was a very nice beach where one could snorkel, or paddle a SUP or kayak into a nearby river. Beautiful.... We also enjoyed dining in the pool area. The food was good, and it was just so nice experiencing the warmth of the sun and the sound of the waves crashing so nearby....

The area is pricey. There is no question about that. And the weather can be unpredictable. There is also no question about that. But for sheer beauty and views that you will never forget, you cannot beat the North Shore of Kauai. And for sheer beauty on the North Shore of Kauai, you cannot beat the St. Regis Princeville.

Let me start by saying, this is truly a spectacular setting and as a LIfetime Platinum SPG member, I've seen many different hotels and resorts.

I've been at this property before in it's previous life and the last time we were through here it was in need of a complete refresh and they've done a fantastic job.

The beach is lovely along with the swimming area in the ocean which gives you a combination of sand, rocks and reef - so it's good for snorkelling too. The chairs along the edge of the beach and service in that area is also excellent.

The new pool area is outstanding, in fact it's stunning. The blue glass tiled bottom pool is huge, the water is warm and welcoming.

I'm actually staying at The Westin Princeville Villas up the road and our beach access is through The St. Regis. We opted this time to have a kitchen instead of every meal in a restaurant. It was easy to get there (5 minute drive), valet parked the car - which is included in our Westin fees, and then simply walked through the lobby and took the elevators to the beach.

On our way out of the hotel at the end of the day, we randomly asked a gentlemen with a name tag in the lobby a quick question about the hotel and by chance it happened to be the General Manager - Milton Sgarbi.

He not only answered the question, but provided great detail about the renovation/restoration of the property, introduced my wife and to a couple of his executives and shared a glass of champagne with us. It was a pleasant surprise and guaranteed our return to the property in the coming days and a stay in the future.

Next time we'll reserve at The St. Regis, but in the meantime, we'll enjoy their facilities and come back for more of the pool/beach and likely a meal or two!

Bravo Mr. Sgarbi!

Room Tip: Although we didn't actually stay this time at the hotel, it's fair to say that the rooms and...

The St. Regis Princeville is classic St. Regis style, service and facilities. The setting is, arguably, the most striking ocean view on the planet. We were upgraded to an ocean view room overlooking Hanalei Bay. The people define this resort - from the staff at the restaurant knowing us by name to the pool/beach staff setting up a pack-and-play for our youngest, the St. Regis Princeville goes above and beyond for its guests. I would strongly recommend the St. Regis to both couples and families and I hope to return both with my wife and, separately, with the extended family.

I would recommend looking into one of the rooms with an outside patio near the pool if you are traveling with a family (you lose the view but gain some outside separation and accessibility to the tremendous pool and multiple hot tubs). Also, consider renting a car so you have access to the town of Hanalei (15 minute drive). Unfortunately, parking is steep at $30.

The only knock on the property, as noted in a recent review, is the service at the Sunset Bar - difficult to order anything much less find a seat (even when you are a guest of the hotel).

Overall, however, we could not have been much happier and will return again soon!

Room Tip: The 4th floor gives you access up to the restaurants and main lobby and down to the pool/beach witho...

I am reviewing the Sunday Brunch. At 60 dollars a person it is pricy BUT the selection is fabulous and the location of the dinning patio is spectacular overlooking Hanalei Bay. Contrary to other reviews I read on this site service was friendly, helpful and professional. One of the servers even pointed out the most economical way to enjoy wine with the seemingly endless buffet. On the food...all fresh, and solo tasty. This is the perfect place to celebrate a special or memorable event while in Hawaii. After this brunch you will not need to have supper...honestly you will be full for the rest of the day....so having said that the 60 per person is starting to sound like a deal. Go and enjoy the St. Regis...we even walked from our nearby resort. After brunch go for a stroll along the beach....so pretty.

Room Tip: This is a very popular Brunch so I would advise making a reservation on-line before you even get to...

The St. Regis was recommended to us from someone staying at our resort at the Cliffs in Princeville. We were told it was a nice place to grab a drink and watch the sunset - in our opinion we would have been better off grabbing a bottle of wine and sitting on the cliffs. My husband ordered a drink for himself and a martini for me; the bartender did not inform him that it was a 2 oz. minimum in their standard drinks - fine for a martini, but not for a normal mixed drink. The issue with this was that having driven to the bar we had to be careful how much we drank. The martini I received had to be one of the worst I've ever had - SO salty and bruised. I had to take it back to the bar and ask for another one - to which bartender replaced with a martini glass of straight room temperature vodka and olive juice on the side. Neither of the bartenders seemed too concerned with our grievances, the woman went as far as to shrug us off when we asked to speak with a manager. We were extremely disappointed with the service from the staff. I guess they just don't need to try because of the guaranteed customers from the hotel and to walk-ins to watch the sunset.

Aloha AGiff,

Mahalo for taking the time to write a review about your recent visit to our Resort. We take all feedback very serious and we apologize that your service was not beyond expectations. I have shared your review with our St. Regis Bar Manager as the service you received was unacceptable and not tolerated at our Resort. Every guest should experience the same level of bespoke service whether you are visiting for the day or a week. Again we regret to learn the details of your experience, as this is certainly not typical of the level of service we provide at the St. Regis Princeville. If we may be of further assistance please feel free to contact Mr. Alberto Pirozzini at alberto.pirozzini@stregis.com
