couldn't have been happier with my stay here at the St Regis. The hotel is showing is wear/age slightly, but the service is exceptional and the location is second to none. sushi and sunset at the lobby bar is not to be missed. pool staff work exceptionally hard...always smiling too! can't wait to come back :-)

We spent 5 nights at the Saint Regis during our Hawaiian honeymoon. The service at the hotel was amazing... Our stay started with the valets parking our car (you don't have the choice so make sure you have budgeted for that if you need to). Then the reception explained everything we needed to know. At that point we were left alone to find our room, which was a little bit weird for us european when staying in a luxury hotel but it seems to be a standard thing in Hawaii. Our room was a vast suite and had breathtaking views on the beach and the mountains! You can even enjoy the view from the bathroom... The hotel is large which means that you are not alone so you need to ensure you make some reservations at the restaurants well in advance. We had some spa treatments: the staff was very knowledgeable but we were a little bit disappointed because they don't have a pool or a couples room. The sunsets were amazing which is why it becomes very crowded on the balcony. The hotel looks old from the outside but the inside is beautiful! We will definitely recommend this hotel if you have the budget, for the staff, the views and the restaurants.

Room Tip: The best views are from the higher rooms (and therefore the most expensive ones).

Favorite spot for beautiful photos in front of the fabulous Hanalei Bay. The pool is fabulous and the staff is superb as well. I must tell you to be careful down on the beach because it is quite rocky and rough on the feet. But hang out by the pool and be treated by the wonderful staff. Food is great as well but as you might expect you will be paying a premium price for this premium establishment.

Having first stayed at 4 Seasons Big Island, we were excited for second part of our trip to go to St. Regis Princeville where we had our honeymoon 30 years ago. Million dollar views of Hanalei Bay -- truly outstanding, and our room view matched. Great sunset views - 9th floor bar views, Makana Terrace restaurant on 8th floor outside a great experience, and strong food for Kauai Grill (get window seat for sunset against window or booth one row from window views). Room was solid as well. Comfortable bed, great view of Hanalei Bay...

However, service was not up to par for hotel that strives for luxury. We arrived to front desk staff "you are eligible for an upgrade (I didn't know), however we don't have any for you" to waiting 20 minutes for a front desk clerk later on (had to tell the staff person in lobby why don't they get more than one front desk clerk in middle of day when multiple parties are waiting), to showing up to concierge to find initially that all our trip reservations had been cancelled (cleared up by another concierge who had tried to consolidate all on one portfolio). Then we went to eat at pool spot for lunch, and the birds/roosters made meal totally unenjoyable (roosters jumping up on our table while we were eating and wait staff just laughing about). And shuttle bus of Westin hotel participants getting shuttled to St. Regis to enjoy beach and crowding hotel bar during sunsets didn't work for us.

Great property...unbelievable views...needs service improvements. (Have also heard there was rumor of property for sale in another forum...don't know if true or not).

Aloha nicetravelin,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay at our resort.
We sincerely apologize that the service experience missed the mark on several occasions during your visit, as this is not typical of the service we provide. Your feedback has been shared with the senior leadership team. I also wanted to assure you that the resort is not for sale.

We appreciate your kind comments regarding your room accommodations and positive dining experiences at Makana Terrace and Kauai Grill. We also agree that our location and views are truly outstanding.

We hope you will allow us another opportunity to demonstrate our signature hospitality for which the St. Regis brand is known.

My wife and I have made a tradition of staying at this property over the years. The location and views are unbeatable. The hotel continues to show its age, but is still enjoyable. Little things that impact the experience continue to devolve. No more turndown chocolates, no more Sunday brunch, no more SPG platinum reception, and food options are hit or miss. We still love the hotel and hope to return (likely why they are changing things—occupancy remains high despite the decreased services). The management team appears increasingly focused on margin rather than experience. Always a delicate balance.
