I work in hospitality and with that cannot help but pay close attention to the details. I was absolutely thrilled with my 7 day stay from start to finish. The hotel is luxurious without being snobby. Each staff member I encountered from valet, to guest services, to servers in the restaurant and pool clearly enjoy their jobs and were happy to be of service. We were in a junior Suite, which has amazing views on the ocean. Suites come with Butler Service, which was an amazing touch. Each morning we started our day with complimentary coffee service brought up from the butler who was pleasant, professional and eager to provide assistance. We sat at our doing table drinking delicious coffee overlooking the ocean and mountains. It really set the tone for the day. The hotel is very conveniently located in Hanalei so the drive to town was about 7-10 minutes (a beautiful drive). The mornings we spent beach hopping (also convenient) and then we returned for the afternoons to the hotel pool and ocean. The ocean alcove was great for swimming and there were many snorkeling as well. The pool attendants were all great, especially Eli who greeted us by name each day and was nothing short of accommodating and friendly. I was super impressed with his service. There are lounge chairs and cabanas on the sand facing the ocean, or at the pool. The pool area has a main pool, children's pool, jacuzzi and relaxing healing pool. The poolside food/beverages were great - especially the cucumber-ginger margaritas and coconut prawns! We swam and lounged the afternoons away. We went to Jean Georges for dinner twice during our stay and both times had amazing experiences. David the restaurant GM greeted us and many guests, the food was delicious (lamb chops, scallops, zero fish), and they even sent champagne as we were celebrating a special occasion. I received a massage which was also amazing and so relaxing. The spa in general is well equipped with steam room, rain showers, and great products. The rooms were very comfortable and clean - plush robes and slippers, quiet rooms, and the beds are soooooo comfortable. We literally slept for 9 hours a night which was amazing. Overall, as you can tell, i was very happy with this stay and value of hotel. Beautiful views throughout the property, great service, great food, and overall such a relaxing experience. highly recommended - and from a picky hospitality professional!

Room Tip: Suites come with butlers which was a great touch

Having never stayed on Kauai; we can perhaps be forgiven for picking a different hotel on another end of the island during our 6 day stay. Also tending towards small and very tropical feeling hotels, I didn't immediately consider the St Regis; perhaps feeling it might end up a bit too stuffy for our more beach bummy tastes. However we were curious, and decided to check it out for Happy Hour and Dinner, and then Came Back for Happy Hour and Dinner a second day, and ummmmm well; came back a 3rd time!

The property although immaculate and quite refined; felt very inviting. The lobby; particularly the views from the lobby bar; spectacular. Although the drinks were only so-so; we stayed and ordered dinner and were happy to enjoy the live jazz and overall pleasant vibe. Loved it so much, we came back two more times as I mentioned above.

Yes, we walked the lovely grounds, and even sat down for a drink at the pool bar. Although the service finally felt a bit on the stuffy side; we couldn't complain much, since the location was quite lovely. Although we liked our own property on the other side of the Island, we couldn't help but spend a good bit of time (and money) at this lovely Resort. 5 Stars+++

Lovely location and the views from the Monarch suite were breathtaking. Service was very good especially from the Butlers and valets.
The hotel itself was not what one would expect at a 5 star resort with a mediocre pool and minuscule beach and sub par lounge chairs. Felt like the hotel was the only luxury choice in the island with the Grand Hyatt as the only acceptable other option. The spa was nice but not exceptional and the gyms were ok however no shower facilities. We typically stay at 4 Seasons and have been extremely satisfied with their resorts especially Bora Bora. We expected the St. Regis to be on par but it was not.
The on site choices of restaurants for dinner were limited with the Makana Terrace excellent for breakfast however not open every night for dinner. Casual type dining limited to pool area and that closes at 6:30. Bar/lounge very nice and they do serve a limited menu if you’re ok with eating on a couch and coffee table. Entertainment at lounge was pleasant but get there early as it stops at 8:30.
Overall 5 star service which should be expected at the price point, however the resort is tired and a bit unkempt. Word of advice to management...don’t allow guests to hang towels from their windows. Needless to say an eyesore and not what one would expect at a 5 star resort.

The St.Regis Princeville is one of the world’s true five star resort hotels. Elegant while relaxed and relaxing, it combines the old-world sophistication of NYC’s Waldorf Astoria with the Hawaiian island peaceful charm of the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on Hawaii’s Kohala Coast, while exceeding them both.

The level of service, beginning with the bell captain’s lei greeting and personal orientation to the lobby and grounds, through the personal and relaxed registration process, throughout the entire guest stay, is exceptional. The staff is cheerful, attentive, and helpful.

Registration is conducted at a desk, not a counter, at which guests are seated in large comfortable chairs. There is no queue. Registration is unhurried, personal, and warm.

The lobby is expansive, built around a ring of huge wooden columns that exude old world charm (think Waldorf). The lobby buildingopens to the concierge and shops online side, to restaurants and the bar facing the ocean.

The view of course is unparalleled. Overlooking Hanalei Bay, th St. Regis commands a vista spanning from the town of Hanalei and its little harbor, across beaches, lava rock, the errant jagged peaks of the mountain range over to Haena, the end of the road that lies at the foot of legendary Bali Hai. The Bali Hai, as in South Pacific, and “...will call you.”

The lush, tropical mountains and valleys are threaded with waterfalls, and nourished by frequent sheets of rain that march across them, visible from the St. Regis and its private beach. The weather is constantly changing, like the ocean beneath it, providing an ever-changing view that can only be described as magical.

Yes, magical. That term has been so overused that it has become trite, but watching the aquamarines, deep blues, and frothy white surf of the ocean, against the brilliant greens of the mountains, trees and thick jungle, the golden beaches, and the constantly changing sky full of billowing clouds, curtains of rain in the near distance perfused with rainbows, the word keeps pushing its way into one’s mind: magical.

The restaurant and bar food and service are exceptional. There is food and drink service at the swimming pool and on the beach. Attendants prepare beach or pool chaises for guests personally, laying out towels and adjusting sun umbrellas.

Indoors, the rooms are spacious, understated but elegant, and well-appointed. They are exceedingly quiet, and the beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms are large and provide ebryrhing from facial buffs to bathrobes. Service is attentive and personal. Turn-down service is provided, so returning to one’s room after dinner, soft Hawaiian music is playing on the TV, slippers are laid out on each side of the bed, and a valet set on the foot of the bed. Staff remind guests to let them know if there is .”anything at all” that they can do.

The St. Regis is — for most of us — pricey. But you do get what you pay for. When traveling for pleasure, the experience defines the success or failure of the trip. The St. Regis is all about the experience.

Room Tip: Upgrading to a higher elevation improves the already amazing view.

So for my 20th wedding anniversary I took my beautiful wife to kauai. I asked her where she wanted to stay. She said some place that has a great view. Well, looking online, I saw the St Regis Resort hotel. Look at the prices and was like wow! Nevertheless, I booked us there.

The view from our room is spectacular!!! You have a mountain range and waterfalls!!!!

The room was ok. Nothing special about it. Everything is pricey so be prepared.

Not much of a beach to really swim in since 90% of it corel reef. But you can go into the water in certain areas and get wet!

Probably the best Mai Tais we had on the island!!!!

Room Tip: Get the ocean view rooms!!!!
