The condo is located in beautiful Princeville, an area with a mixture of attractive low rise homes, resorts and condos, surrounded by trees and stunning gardens. Driving to the complex from the highway, the view is of rolling golf course greens, rows of pines with a backdrop of mountains and waterfalls. There is a fantastic view of the ocean and the coastline immediately before you reach the Puu Poa complex, perfect to watch the sunset. The complex is very well maintained with a newly renovated swimming pool and tennis court. Princeville shopping area is 5 mins away by car where there is a large Foodlands store, a quality wine merchant, Italian/pizza restaurant, yoga studio and a booking office for all the major attractions. Hanalei Bay is an easy and stunning 10min drive. The Princeville Airport is 10mins drive from where the Blue Hawaiian helicopter departs and the Napali Sea Breeze Boat Tour departs from Anini Beach which is 15 mins drive. The apartment itself is well situated with ocean views from both living areas and the patio. Spacious, well appointed and decorated with interesting, tasteful furniture and artifacts from South East Asia. The ocean is also in view from the main bedroom which has a lovely comfortable king size bed. Good cooking facilities and appliances. This apartment offered everything we needed and exceeded our expectations. It is ideally situated, allowing easy access to neighbouring towns, major attractions, restaurants, markets and departure points for tours and hikes. It is highly recommended.
In our many, many trips (roughly 30) involving apartment and condos none tops this one. I can't think of even one little flaw in Kevin's condo, and there were a number of pleasant surprises, perhaps the biggest were the beautiful objects of art from places like Indonesia, where we have not traveled. Spacious, well-equipped, beautifully and tastefully furnished. A great joy. Of course, there are no free lunches, but you'll get every bit of what you pay for. jim hall
We spent nine days in the Princeville area of Kauai. Our second trip to Kauai, and it is now our favorite spot. The Puu Poa condos are on a palisade bluff overlooking the ocean. It was wonderful for sunrises and sunsets. Just to the left of our view as the "Bali Hai" mountains from "South Pacific". Hanalei Bay was 10 minutes away.
We thought we'd drive all over the island, but no, we ended staying up north nearly the entire time. Access to the St. Regis beach and restaurants was close and easy, just 5 minutes walk. Hideaways Beach, our favorite, was right below the cliffs by the condo.
What was incredible is out the back of the condos was a spectacular view of Mount Waialeale. After each rain shower (which happened every day for 15-20 minutes) we were treated to views of the stunning summit in the clouds and the waterfalls that sprung to life.
If you are expecting drinks in an umbrella on your beach, you this is not your area. This is more laid back, smaller beaches (but many of them), and each with certain strengths: some good for morning, others for afternoon, some good for sunning, others for snorkeling.
We love condos in Hawaii, because I'm an early riser, by my girls sleep in, so we always eat, nap, and lounge at different times. Having the kitchen is better for us, and saves a ton of money from eating out all the time.
The Accommodations were great with a million dollar unobstructed view of the ocean. We were able to see the sunset everyday from the patio, and after a full day of activities return to the patio for some spectacular star gazing. Kevin is a wonderful gentleman who helped us in many ways including recommendations on great places to eat, site see, activities and places to mingle with the local culture.
Great snorkeling at a secluded beach were 3 minutes walking distance away. We also recommend the helicopter tour to truly see the beauty of the island as many locations are not immediately accessible.
We always looked at this property the many times in Princeville and never knew we could fine rentals in Puu Poa, upon dropping off our keys we already booked for next February. The view is breathless, with the large wall of patio window/door combination with a large private deck to look out to the ocean you feel like you are
living in a dream. Listen to the crashing waves and surrender to the Island's magic.
As a former long time resident, and huge fan of Hawaii, let me share some of my wonderful experiences while visiting,Kauai. Puu Poa is a "one of a kind" place to stay in Hawaii. This fantastic location is the perfect place to relax, in style, and and explore kauai's north shore and the rest of the Island. Whatever your pleasure, hiking, diving, swimming, beach combing, tennis, golf, Kauai and Puu'Poa has it all. While staying in KauaiKevin's unit, #204, we were pleasantly surprised by all the amenities large and small. Whatever we needed seem to be at our finger tips. The fully equipped kitchen was perfect for preparing our favorite Island treats. "We love the local fish and produce purchased from the farmer's market ,in Hanalei. Great exotic Furniture from Thailand and Hawaii added to this once in a lifetime experience. We spent hours on the Lanai, captivated by the surfers, whales, outriggers, native Hawaiian birds and starry nights. And to top things off the world class St. Regis, ( Princeville) is steps from Kevin's Puu'Poa... Sleepy, Hanalei has great, shops, restaurants, and fun night life if your willing to explore. I'm hoping to go back.
We had a wonderful time at Princeville's Pu'u Po'a Paradise. Everything from the location, view, decor, and amenities were as described and more.
The interior of the condo is beautifully decorated, and you can clearly tell the owners take great pride in their space and have put a lot of thought into the pieces they chose. As soon as you enter the front doors you are greeted by lovely and unique artwork reminiscent of Indonesian influence. The artwork is not only on the walls, but is carried though in the furnishings (including wooden seating in the sun room which has various scenes and stories carved in the back and arm rests) and accents. The condo is extremely spacious and has a welcoming and warm feel. The layout and set up are perfect for enjoying the beautiful view from most locations, and enjoying time with those you are vacationing with -- though you certainly have the option of privacy if wanted.
There is also a huge balcony which is the perfect place to enjoy the breathtaking view of the ocean and sunsets. During our stay we were also lucky enough to see whales migrating, as well as a total lunar eclipse that we followed from beginning to end.
From a comfort perspective, everything we could want was provided. There was a full complement of dishes, glasses, cookware, bedding (the beds themselves were very comfortable, and there were several options for pillows, blankets, etc.), toiletries, laundry and laundry supplies. In addition, there was a surfboard, bodyboard, snorkeling gear, binoculars, beach chairs, beach towels, coolers and umbrellas. WiFi was also available (and it was fast), as was full cable programming on a big screen TV -- all the comforts of home, in paradise.
Pu'u Po'a was also the perfect location for enjoying the island, and is surrounded by lush greenery and tropical beauty, not to mention an almost-private beach. It is also very close to grocery stores, restaurants, and many of the island's must see sights.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Princeville's Pu'u Po'a Paradise!
