We were a little nervous when booking our reservations as the price was lower than the rest of the area hotels. However upon arrival we were quite happy. The grounds were beautifully landscaped, the staff was friendly and the rooms were comfortable and very spacious. It came with a washer/dryer in the unit as well as a fully equipped kitchen, which is quite helpful when traveling to Kauai as it is a bit pricey. The walls are single wall constructed so you do hear your neighbors at times but nothing to bothersome. As most of the day you are not in the room and upon returning in the evening most people are tired from the beach just as we were. It was time for relaxing. A couple of cocktails and the tropical atmosphere. What a way to end the day in paradise.

Our family of four stayed in Pali Ke Kua unit 206 in August 2007. We completely fell in love with it and would rent the same unit in a heartbeat. It is immaculate, and beautifully furnished and decorated, and quiet, and very comfortable. What we most appreciated were all the thoughtful things that made our short 4 day stay complete. The fine linens and towels (and towel heaters) were sheer luxury, there were boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels, coolers, well-equipped kitchen, a nice collection of local info and fiction books for reading, and more - we never thought of a thing we'd want that wasn't there. (Note, as others have said, we picked up some cheap reef shoes and snorkel gear at a Walmart in Hawaii and were all set.) When we arrived the unit was very hot from being closed up and we thought we'd be miserable in the August heat, but it turned out that when the windows are all open, and the fans are on, it cools down quickly and stays very comfortable. The Bali Hai sunset view is INCREDIBLE! We made a point of enjoying it every day. The walk down to the beach is very steep, but paved and safe, and even as an out of shape 45 year old, I managed it by taking a break every now and then. The snorkeling there was nice. It's very private, which we loved; maybe at the most 4 other people there at the same time. But we spent most of our time at a beach in Hanalei. We LOVED nearby Hanalei, for surfing, shopping, and eating. The Pali Ke Kua pool wasn't fancy, but it was nice and clean and perfect for a quick cool swim. Hot tub was very nice too, and rarely more than a few people there. The first couple of buildings seem to have the most spectacular views, and we really liked the second floor unit with its awesome loft, and we loved being in the end unit with the windowed corner around the dining table. Don't know about the other units around us, but unit 206 was absolutely perfect, very luxuriously appointed, and an incredible bargain compared to the fancier newer condos and hotels in the area.

We picked unit #208 because we wanted the views. As stated in all the reviews, nature did not let us down. However the "king bed" was two twins with a definite uncomfortable ridge in the middle. I awoke to traffic noise every morning at 6:00 a.m. as the bedroom faces the street and the wooden slat type windows did not allow us to block this sound. The "bbq" is a rusted, dirty charcoal grill a very steep walk from the unit, to the beach, so bbqing dinner was not feasible. The "hot tub/spa" seats two, three at the most touching knees. We had to unplug the internet every time we wanted to use the phone, the static was terrible because they didn't have a DSL filter. I called ahead after reading complaints about the pots and pans and asked the manager to make sure they were adequate for every day use. However, everything had a tendency to burn because they were so cheap. So the unit looked pretty, but it's practical use (we stayed for a month) was poor and I would not stay again. There are many other choices on Kauai (been here 9 times) with a much better price and much more accomodating for every day activities.

We have stayed at unit #227 Pali Ke Kua twice now, most recently in 08/27. It has fantastic ocean bluff views with a view of a beautiful little cove with turtles usually swimming it. Steep walking path to beautiful Hideaways Beach - good snorkeling, one of my favorite beaches in all of Hawaii. Morning sun on the Lanai with afternoon shade - perfect! Corner unit, 2bd, 2ba. Unfortuantely, it has been for sale for approx. 1 year and the current owners obviously have no desire to invest any $$ in the upkeep of the unit. Couch is old, rest of unit has bare minimum of used, old furniture and furnishings. Unit definitely needs a major renovation. Not worth the money until it is renovated. Pool is decent sized but surprisingly rather cool.
I am sure there are other units at Pali Ke Kua that are in much better shape than #227. Most units have beautiful ocean bluff views. The private access to Hideways Beach and the views are the reason we have stayed here in the past. Several other beaches are within 10-15 minute driving distance. In winter beware of high surf on North shore.

Me, my wife and 3 small children stayed at Pali Ke Kua from July 10 to July 15. We had unit #209, a 2 bedroom that slept 6. The unit had new carpeting and paint, and the furnishings were adequate. As had been said over and over in these reviews, the views from this unit and all around the complex are no less than spectacular. The ever-changing light on the ocean and surrounding mountains provides endless opportunities for photographs.

The pool area was quite nice, which included a new spa. There were an adequate number of chairs on the deck, the water was a nice temperature, and the kids had a great time swimming.

I rented the unit from Regency Pacific Realty. They have a website [--] that is quite good, with a large selection of units. I would say this complex is a 3 or 3.5 star place, depending on the unit you choose. It provides an excellent value compared to what you'd pay at a hotel. The Princeville location was excellent, and the drive into Hanalei town was just a few minutes. I would recommend this complex to anyone looking for a mid-level accommodation on the north shore.

We stayed at the Pali Ke Kua oceanfrontrealty.com/vrentdetails.aspx?Code=e136)from June 2 to June 11, 2007 on our honeymoon.
Princeville is a beautiful place to stay, the condo we stayed at was very nice and had a very nice location, partial ocean view. Also nearby is a shopping center with a great supermarket. I would say this is a quiet affluent community.
I highly recommend this condo and this condo complex. One thing to consider is that in Princeville it rains a lot more than southern Kauai, however it is not a far drive to southern Kauai and hitting up those beaches.

We have been coming to the Princeville area for 7 years and we keep coming back to Pali Ke Kua on the North Shore. These are 1 & 2 bedroom condos, all privately owned. We have rented through Marc Resorts and found their selection to be limited. Now we always contact an owner or other local rental company in Princeville for our bookings. You have a great choice of units with some very stunning views & sunsets and a variety of prices. One thing to remember is NO AIR Conditioning. We brought friends with us one year and they ended up at the Princeville Resort just down the street because of the A/C issue. PKK has always been very nice with its semi private beach, easy to get down to, but remember you have to walk back up. Each time we sit on the lanai having wine & cheese we see whales going by. Turtles all around the base of the lava rocks just below the cliffs! They used to have a nice hut and BBQ area down there but the HOA thought they would repair it and Kauai put the breaks on the project, so now you have a crated demolished mess at the base of the path to the beach. I don't feel this will interrupt your vacation or the scenery at all, it's tucked away. As one HOA member told us this year, feel free to take a souvenir piece back up with you! There are some very very good eating places around; Postcards Cafe down in Hanalei usually gets 2 or 3 visits from us during our stay. If you get the right condo in this group you’re set to have a really wonderful vacation.
