When on this side of the island, this is worth stopping for a brief visit and a good read of the signage about the fort. Like other people have mentioned , it is nothing special, and most will think it is a waste of time. But the views are nice and realizing 200 years ago this was a big deal.... Just makes you think.

Interesting to learn about Russian history in Hawai'i but not worth a special trip. Smaller kids will be bored for sure.

A little hard to find the fort. It is to the right of the entrance. Should read history on boards before visiting. Could be better maintained with explanation signs inside the fort.

This site was a little disappointing. The only information was provided on the information board. Everything else was just the remains of the fort which you aren't allowed to really set foot on. A good place to just drive by to read the information, but not a long stop.

It's interesting to see the historical signs and know that the Russians were there - it's also a nice place to walk around a bit and there's easy access to a couple of nice fishing beaches, rocky beaches and the area where the Waimea River meets the ocean - but the fort itself is nothing more than the remnants of the wall and that is very overgrown. Any history buff, esp those interested in military history, will see the significance of the site and understand the importance of this historical location but others will probably not find much to interest them.
