My partner, Dan, and I have just spent the most wonderful 9 days at Maui Ocean Breezes. It is located about 10 minutes past Paia, 1/2 mile off the road to Hana, just past mile 15.5. This breathtaking property is lushly landscaped, with a gorgeous panoramic ocean view beyond the expansive lawn and gardens. There is a scattering of other small homes and farms in view, to complete this lovely setting.
Our hosts included Anjali, her husband Ken, and live-in caretaker Alex. Each of these very friendly people took good care of us, while also respecting our privacy. They have a relaxed, yet professional style which we liked. They seemed to take great care to complete most of those noisy (but necessary) property maintenance tasks during times that Dan and I were exploring other areas of the island.
We were guests in the Hibiscus Hideaway apartment. This apartment is on the ground level of the plantation style main house. We had our own entrance and covered patio to provide us with the privacy that we enjoyed. It was a very peaceful setting for our vacation. The apartment was well equipped with a full kitchen/dining/living room, bathroom, and bedroom with a king sized bed. We spent most of our "at home" time on the patio which was perfect for sitting to take in the scenery, to enjoy morning coffee, and to have virtually all of our meals. We especially liked the "delicious" trade winds that were so very refreshing and comfortable. Even during the variable showers that can pop up at anytime, we were able to stay on the patio.
During our visit to Maui Ocean Breezes, Dan and I spent parts of four days relaxing at the pool. The pool is situated on a knoll on the property which takes in the same views mentioned above. The salt water was very comfortable and clean. There is a fresh water rinse shower beside the pool. The pool area is for shared use by the owners and any other guests. However, we had the area to ourselves each time we were there. It was a very peaceful and serene setting.
While we were visiting other parts of the island, the owners constructed a gazebo over the large picnic table that is adjacent to the pool. This will give some well needed shade to the pool deck area. We are aware of the risks of over exposure to strong sunshine. So, prior to the gazebo, we needed to seek shade under some trees that were off the pool deck.
Thank you for a memorable time at Maui Ocean Breezes! We will visit again.
