We took the Hana Highway journey, stopping along the way to enjoy the waterfalls and great views. It is a great trip, but very long and by the time we got to Hana, we were famished. We saw the sign for Pranee's and decided to try it out. We had read not so glowing reviews of other restaurants at Hana so we didn't have high expectations. Pranee's isn't much to look at from the outside, but boy is the food amazing. We had the snapper dish, pad thai, and tropical fried rice (for the little one). Everything was incredible.

The food was very good. Somewhat hidden down by the baseball fields, but there were a couple signs. This is not just a food stand, but a sit down restaurant with daily specials and delicious food. We had pineapple fried rice and a red snapper daily special. Very tasty and huge portions.

A fun place to eat, food is fresh, flavorful and colorful. A young woman greeted us showed the 2 specials for the day. She gave us nice clean laminated menus and we got self serve water and beverages from the coolers. The tent covered restaurant has fans, is opened air and clean. I watched in the cooking area and they were authentic in their technique with laughter even thought they were busy. Service was quick and polite unlike some of the reviews we read. We ate the fresh summer rolls, spring rolls, red snapper with ginger and the mango red snapper salad, medium spicy. The confusion is that Pranee serves Friday - Sunday and Nutcharee's serves Monday - Thursday. The 3rd Thai restaurant is back up the Hana Rd. In another town. Locals made it clear there is only 1 Thai Place in town. Pranee takes credit cards and uses a mini iPad. I can see why folks come back to eat here.

We were in Hana 2 days and ate there twice, one of the best restaurants ever! There are 2 celiacs in our family and it was great to find such an aware place and so many GF options. We considered driving back from Kihei to eat there again.Very friendly staff yet professional.. Cool atmosphere!

I had the mahi curry which was delicious & heard the fried snapper was the favorite. The hostess had an attitude unfortunately. I'd recommend getting the food to go and eating by the bay, there were lots of flies to combat.
