“Not the place for banana bread”
Reviewed 18 December 2013

Stopped here on the way to Hana.
This stand is easy to spot and easy to get to (They also have good parking).
All I bought was banana bread and a couple of drinks.
I can't speak to the other foods they serve, but the banana bread was about what you might expect in a supermarket. It was a bit dry and not very flavorful (This might be because it was after lunch when we came through).

“charming meets delicious”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

We did not bring a lunch as we figured there would be enterprising Hawaiians along the way and we were right. This was a great little stop and the pig tacos excellent.

“You need to stop”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

Imagine this, you just finished seeing twin falls and you're now driving to Hana, all of a sudden, you see a "Pork Tacos here" sign. YOU DAMN WELL HAVE TO STOP. The pork was soft and full of flavor. Slow braised pulled pork, topped with shredded cabbage and bbq sauce. Just wonderful. To push the taco's down, we tried the Uncle Harry's special, just perfect on a hot sunny day! It was sweet and refreshing, better than any Jamba or Robek's smoothie.

For the road, we bought a $3 banana bread, easily the best we've tried.

come for the taco's, stay for the smoothie and banana bread.

“Tasty smoothies”
Reviewed 20 July 2013

We were provided a sample before bought smoothies - very tasty! Not too many options on this highway, but this one is a good choice.

“Coolest Snack Stand on the Way to Hana”
Reviewed 16 September 2012

You go past several snack stands on the way to Hana, and this one certainly catches the eye. It's a small yellow shack decorated on the outside with mounted boar and deer heads. We were about at the halfway point and wanted to buy cold drinks somewhere, and this place had so much more personality than the others that this is where we stopped. It also wasn't crowded like some of the other stands where tour companies apparently have contracts. The young man that waited on us was very pleasant and took some time to chat with us. When we asked about the animal heads, he told us that wild boars are a nuisance in the area, and the one on the building was one that his uncle had shot. We bought some cold drinks, bananas, chunks of fresh coconut, and strips of fresh sugar cane, and banana bread. Everyone was happy with the quality of what they bought. This place has so much character that we all agreed that if we were to do the drive again, this is the place we would want to stop at along the way.

(Note on the rating: I'm comparing it with other places of its kind, i.e. other outdoor snack stands.)
