One of the best places we have ever stayed! We are repeat guests in G10. It has an amazing view of the pool and the ocean. The setting is beautiful, inside there a flat screen TV and beautiful furniture. My wife and our three boys come here every year!

H2 is on the ground floor - nowhere in Maui have we experienced the ability to walk out on the lanai to grass - sand - and then ocean. Spectacular setting and a wonderful unit. Very well appointed (if you enjoy eating in, you'll find the kitchen has every gadget you can think of) The bed is very comfortable and the shower/half-bath was appreciated. Extremely private and relaxing, we loved everything offered at the Maalaea Surf. View, accommodation, location, all 5 stars! A fabulous spot.

Usually when you stay at a condo, the first thing you need to do is a shopping list. There are rarely spices, paper products, garbage bags, etc. This condo was perfectly outfitted. I mean everything! Including sharp knives. The bed was delicious. Even the sleeper sofa was very comfortable for our teenage daughter. Plenty of linens, paper products, beach towels. There was a closet stocked with beach gear: chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, even sand toys for a little one. Refrigerator with an ice maker.

The condo had been recently remodeled with nice floors, great furniture, even a large, flat screen TV. Great internet service both wireless and connected.

The outdoor furniture was very comfortable. I think this unit has the nicest lounge chairs covered with thick cushions.

If there is a downside, this condo faces the small pool. It was a child magnet all day long. We did not enjoy hang around time outdoors because of it. In fact, we would walk to the big pool and lounge around there just for peace and quiet. I simply don't understand going all the way to Hawaii to hang around a tiny pool (can you say beach day, parents?) But we were rarely at the condo by day because there is so much to do on Maui.

The grounds are beautiful, and I understand from talking with the new property manager, they will get even better. Very nice, well maintained barbeques.

Each building has a laundry room. I used the one in building C three times; it was clean and functional.

Loved the location, too. Easy, short drive from the airport. About 1/4 mile down the street is an excellent farmer's market, ABC store, and the best shave ice I've ever enjoyed, Ululani's.

I wish I were still there. I plan to return!

Room Tip: Some of the condos have not been upgraded recently and that will affect your stay. Be sure to ask f...

Stayed 2 weeks over Christmas and New Years in a beach front unit on the lower level. The unit itself is dated but it is clean and the beds are comfortable. We have all the comforts of home and a million dollar view. The kids have grass to run around on and the beach is steps away. We have seen turtle and whales plus the most amazing sunsets from our lanai. After visiting some of the resorts up in kaanapali which are busy and loud and crowded we love coming back to our quiet little resort. Never hard to find space on the beach or a deck chair at the pool. Walking distance to a farmers market and the Kiehi canoe club. Both are worth a visit. When booking, pay close attention to the lanai furniture. The more comfortable the better...you'll be spending a lot of time there! I can handle the dated interior of the condo when you consider what this resort has to offer! Donuts offered poolside on Friday mornings and a pupu party on New Year's Eve.

I went back and forth between 4 and 5 stars and decided to go with 5 stars because the items that caused some concern aren't within control of Maalaea--it's just a matter of location. On our first night, we could smell the sugar cane fields burning (around 4 a.m.) and the smoke/smell woke us up. The window slats don't keep the smoke/smell out entirely. It only happened 1 night out of 7 and apparently it's nothing that is scheduled but I think it's important enough to be aware of (we were told they don't burn as much in the winter months). The other thing that could be a nuisance (also think it depends on time of year) are the trade winds. The wind is really strong in the afternoon. We didn't go on the beach then but the pool was fine and the wind kept us cool.

The condo itself was perfect! Very clean, beds were comfortable, kitchen has everything you could need. The grounds at the Maalaea Surf are immaculate and it's really quiet! We loved being in a central location (short drive from beaches north and south). We really loved having our own private oasis to come home to after a busy day in other places. We aren't mega resort type people and this complex is perfect for that. There were only a few people on the beach in front and the pool was never crowded (and even though G-1 is right by the pool we never heard any noise even when there were people in the pool). It was wonderful to sit on the lanai and watch the ocean and the canoes. We liked having a 30 second walk to the beach or pool. We rented through Ali'i Resorts and they were extremely helpful and friendly. The maid service mid-week was a nice touch. We did not want to leave here and I would definitely return.

Room Tip: The 2 bedroom first floor units are great--no one on top and they are end units so only one neighbor...

We have stayed several times at Maalaea Surf.. sometimes through the property rental pool, sometimes through a private owner. Each time, we've had a wonderful vacation - perfect location, beautiful grounds and close to everything. It's like having your own private beach. We were fortunate enough to stay for 2 weeks in H-6 this year. We prefer the beachfront, lower level, two bedroom units but the two bedroom townhouses are great, too. Our favorite is D-1 but G-6 and H-6 are also very nice. We plan to be there again next year.

We've been wanting to give this place a try and were pleased to find a unit via ALii Resorts. For last minute planning I consider myself blessed.
The property is beautiful and very well maintained, gorgeous gardens and such a feeling of being away from it all. Our unit was very clean and spacious, I could live here. While decor is a personal thing, we found it very comfortable and quite well arranged.
We enjoyed the BBQ area, easy beach access, and the simplicity of sitting on our lanai with a nice ocean view. Units have a certain amount of privacy that adds to the ambiance. Traffic noise was not an issue at all.
It was windy, but it's windy in March anyway and further south was no different. I wish our unit had been available for our entire time - but am glad we tried it - we'll be back!
