This was a great value for the money, including the required resort fee charge of $17.50 per room. Good-sized clean rooms, comfortable bed. Hotel in good location on the south Maui coast. We had a rental car and could pretty much cover the entire south and west Maui coasts within and hour drive. We even did 1/2 of the road to Hana. Good whale watching and beaches on the way to Lahaina. And, of course, loved that we could walk to the beach to enjoy the sunset each night. Pool and pool bar very nice. Did not care for the restaurant Ami Ami for breakfast--just average. Loved getting Wi-Fi in the room included. My biggest complaint: Parking---the spaces must have been striped for the smallest possible compact cars. Practically needed a can opener to get into a space.

Room Tip: Rooms are well-insulated. We were concerned we were located at end of hallway near elevator and facing parking lot, but had no noise problems.

We just recently returned home after spending March 3rd to 10th at the Maui Coast Hotel in South Kihei. If you are planning on staying in a hotel, in an area where you want accessibility to beaches, restaurants, and shops this is the place for you. The whole experience was great, the facility has everything you will need top to bottom, pleasant staff overall, clean, and good service. We used every amenity that was available to us for the most part, bikes, shop in lobby, room service, there is also a gym and tennis court. Nice to have the option of the pool and hot tub, with beverage and food service poolside and live music at night, as some days sitting on the beach wasn't great because of the breeze. We were in a one bedroom suite, with a spacious bathroom, firm king bed, newer lcd televisions in both rooms, good sized deck, wet bar, fridge etc, sheets and towels comfortable and plentiful, it was perfect for our needs. We also had lunch poolside, and dinner at the restaurant Ami Ami, which was excellent very good food, the lounge and bar are very nice as well. The only criticism we had of Ami Ami was that the wait staff need a classier looking uniform to wear, small gripe I know. There is also a very nice concierge service in the well appointed lobby, as well car rental on site. For our first time to Maui we really enjoyed Kihei, a nice mixture of people and things to do, locals call it little Canada so it was perfect. Many people complain about the "resort fee" it is what it is, personally they could just add in the price and I would be fine with that, the only downside to it was the wi-fi in our room was terrible this needs to be fixed for sure. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, very few hotel options in this area and this is the best one. Check out the Kihei Cafe for good diner food, and Life's a Beach for food, drinks, and music north of the hotel, and Moose Mcgillycutty's to the south for fun and food. Also really enjoyed golf at Elleair Golf Course, whale watching with Pacific Whale Institute and all the other fun things to numerous to list on this fantastic island, Aloha enjoy!

Room Tip: We prefer a higher floor, our was facing north and was very quiet.

The Maui Coast Hotel is - as its name states - a hotel, but with a few resort-like amenities (and a $17.50 per day "resort" fee to go along with them). The rooms are decidedly "hotel-like" although updated and attractive. The bed in our deluxe king room was fantastic, and the sheets/duvet crispy white and very inviting with lots of pillows to choose from! The bathroom was the average hotel bathroom, and oh, so small. Towels were fluffy and in abundance, however. There is a pool bar and an attentive wait staff for pool-side dining, tropical drinks, etc. Their street-side Ami Ami Restaurant is very pretty and modern, open-air, but over-priced. Read as over $32 for an entre' with three mid-sized diver scallops and three tiny scoops of a local potato-like compliment, but no vegies! There are bikes on site for guests to use, but we missed knowing about the tennis courts, which are apparently tucked away at the back of the property? There were very clean, new and FREE washer/dryer facilities on every other floor, with vending for laundry soap. A big plus! No massage or mani/pedi salon here, and it's a walk to some of the tourist-related shopping areas and other restaurants. They do have a shuttle that will take you a couple of miles in either direction, first come first served. A city "beach park" is just across the road, and a good place to watch the sun set each evening, but it did not offer up the romantic "Hawaiian" experience you might expect to see on Maui. So, while lacking in a special sort of island charm, this was, overall, a comfortable stay. We would definitely suggest you have a rental car (I believe they may have some Dollar rentals on site) to make your way around Maui, as most everything we did was 30 minutes to well over an hour away- whale watching, the volcano, the aquarium (excellent), fine dining, etc.

Came in February for the Whale Festival! Staff is excellent from front desk to maid service. They are extremely friendly, patient, kind, and always willing to help out, no matter the hour. Our room was always clean including the private lanai. Location is absolutely perfect with local eats, parks, and shopping within walking distance. Our room on the south side of the hotel was very quiet, made for easy sleeping. Would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Was here during the Whale Festival in February. Our room on the south side was very quiet and private. Loved having a lanai! Clean, great service from all the staff--friendliest place on earth yet very relaxing! Location is great for walking to parks, eats, and shopping. Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here 3 nights. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly and helpful.
It was a good value for Maui. It is right across the street from several beaches, shopping and food. The poolside cafe was great.
