This is not a 5-star hotel. I was disappointed to trade my Newport Coast Villa timeshare for this hotel. But upon settling in, the privacy was wonderful, it was quiet, beach out your slider, they provide beach chairs and cooler. The sunsets are beautiful and it was like having your private backyard. All evening we saw one couple walk by. Large bathroom area, bed was fine, nice walk in closet. We had the 2/2 on one floor. We were on the first floor and it was quiet. It is dated, but it is well stocked and clean.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room facing the ocean. Pool is in center. We did not use. Foodland is right down t...

My husband and I spent most of our honeymoon here earlier this year. My mother-in-law got us this as a gift through Interval International, which is a time share trading company. The place was spacious enough for up to 4 people. There was a small bedroom with closet, a bathroom with a separate shower/toilet, a small kitchen and living room/dining room area. We also had a patio with table and chairs. The pool and spa were convenient, and there was a short walk to the beach. There wasn't much sand you could sit on, but there were beautiful views! The room was clean, we were provided with necessary basic items for the kitchen, and beach towels, chairs and cooler. The only complaint we had a was rude lady at the front desk, no secure place for luggage if you are waiting to check in (it was in an UNLOCKED shed outside). They took care of any needs we had, and we would definitely stay here again when we come back!

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor, which was nice because you could walk right out to the pool and be...

We booked this off of a Groupon and we were very worried when we read some of the reviews. My husband and I got a 2 bedroom. We stayed in the loft and it was magnificent! The loft was air conditioned and had a wonderful fan. The whole place was clean and well stocked. Even had things I didn't expect like Beach Towels, Laundry basket, coolers, and beach chairs. The grounds were beautiful and we walked along the beach with our kids.

I love to cook and there wasn't anything I needed in the kitchen that it wasn't already stocked with. The BBQ grills were very nice. They were WEBER's and you can't get better than that.

My brother and his family got the 1 bedroom and he was seriously worried about the air conditioning since he sweats even when it is cool outside. He said he couldn't be happier though. The back room didn't have an air conditioner but it wasn't really hot back there (they were on the 2nd floor) and he slept out on the couch under the air conditioner and fan.

On the day of departure, we had to check out at 10AM but they had a luggage storage shed we could put our bags. Our flight didn't leave until 10PM but the schooner let us use the pool all day and also had guest showers for us to use. We were very happy with this place.

Room Tip: Get a two bedroom and not on the first floor.

First of all, this resort is very clean and the grounds are well maintained. The rooms are dated, but clean. I was happy with the cooler and beach chairs that were supplied, along with a mini-flashlight for walks to the beach in the twilight hours.
We were expected to wash our own towels and take out the trash, If you didn't want the maid service (extra cost).
Interval rated this resort as 'gold', but I would suggest they re-evaluate this desgination. It wasn't a bad place to stay, but compared to other 'gold' resorts, it doesn't measure up.

That being said, it was not a bad place to crash and cook meals- the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked. The staff we interacted with were pleasant and we used the activities desk to book a snorkel trip and we got a great deal.

We stayed here our first of two weeks on Maui. It was an exchange through our timeshare so it was a good value. It is located on the ocean side of the road which is a plus, however, even though there is a beach here, it really isn't good for much more than nice sunset or morning walks. It definitely is not a swim beach and the water is not a pretty color here like it is elsewhere. The property is not right by the beach but set back like many other properties here which is OK. There are also tennis courts between the property and the beach. The property is well maintained and manicured for it's age. We had a nice 1 bedroom unit on the 2nd floor overlooking the
pool. We also had a peek-a-boo view of the ocean between buildings from the lanai, where we enjoyed having breakfast and dinners every day. The pool and hot tub area was well maintained, which we used a couple of times. However the pool got noisy with screaming kids and partying adults at various times during the day and evening, which we could hear inside the unit even
with the doors closed. This eventually lessened towards the end of our stay as those particular families must have already left. The unit was nice, nothing fancy, but met our needs. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The only drawback with the bedrooms throughout the complex is that they are all located right on the walkways that everyone uses to get to their units and you can hear them as they walk by. Luckily no one was noisy in the middle of the night. Because the beach isn't that great here we drove to all sorts of other beaches in the area. The best part about staying here is that they provide beach chairs and coolers for beach trips. They even have some boogie boards to borrow down in the luggage storage area which we
used. They say they don't keep them in the units anymore for liability reasons. The other good thing is that there is a full size washer/dryer in the unit and they
provide 1 wash load worth of
detergent. All in all a good value and a pleasant stay here.

Ocean front! Amenities are good, but lack any luxury. Not run down, but lacks finesse. Then again why did we come to Maui? Not for the accommodations, although it does matter. Good value when all the amenities, including the full sized washer and dryer are considered.
No maid service, so try to be tidy, or you'll feel awkward.

Maui is exceptional... the Schooner is just OK. This was my first trip to Hawaii, & the other couple we went with booked the place since they got a deal. In general we had a good time but wish we would have had more time... didn't get to see all of Maui in the 8 days we were there and can't wait to go back!
Maui Schooner: Well worth it if cost is your #1 priority, but I'm a beach person first and foremost. If I were to do it again I'd stay in South Kihei, or Wailea near the spectacular beachs hands down. Polo beach in Wailea was my favorite, give it a try. They have lounge chairs there and everything. Maybe I'm spoiled on resorts but I want to wake up and walk down to the beach and have a lounge chair there and completely escape reality and everyday life when I'm on vacation. Packing up the car and driving to a decent beach everyday got old... real old, real quick! The pool was nice, clean & never crowded, and had a decent table and BBQ area. But the beach is too shallow to really swim it, paddleboarders get there useof it, hence the packing up to go to the beach everyday. If your a pool person and want to do maui on the cheap go for it. If you a beach person, buck up and spend the $$ to stay on the real maui beaches.
One thing we should have done more than once, we eat at Mama's fish house in Paia. AMAZING! YOU MUST GO! Pricey but really a special experience- well worth teh cost in service, atmosphere, and food!
Also don't believe the hype. Maui is not that expensive, if you do EVERYTHING at a resort, of course it is, but if your here your going to be eating at the Kihei local resatrants, and they aren't bad at all. ENJOY!
