“Best Short Ribs”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

The short ribs are the best on Maui. Service is very good. Now a corkage fee is charged, but not unreasonable. Bring your favorite wine or cocktail. Be sure you only bring what you plan to drink. The only drawback is that it is located behind Fred's, possibly the worst eatery on Maui. There is not much of a view so ask to be seated on the outside, not in the courtyard.

“Graet food in Maui”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

I have eaten twice in the 808 and those 2 meals are the best I have ever eaten in Maui. An interesting variety of food, very well prepared, fantastic spot on across from Kamaole Beach in Kihei. Staff are very good and attentive without being intrusive. The only (very) minor complaint would be you have to bring your own beer/wine. You could, and probably will, spend a lot more at some of the flashier restaurants and get a pretty ordinary meal.

“Charming spot, great food for the price”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

808 Bistro is tucked in behind other restaurants, and can be a bit hard to find -- there's a curved walkway from the parking lot at the back that is confusing. But once there, you are in a lovely Hawaiian garden. The food is excellent - our short ribs fell off the bone - and very well-priced. The early bird special is a particular bargain, at $25 for a full, great meal. I like the BYOB aspect too, as wine prices on Maui can be very high.
I hear the 808 is also great for breakfast, which is served until noon.

“Great food, great value ... and BYOB!”
Reviewed 13 April 2014

Our latest trip to Kihei, Maui included two dinner visits to 808 Bistro. The initial draw (on a previous visit) was its BYOB policy; the $5 corkage fee represented a terrific opportunity to enjoy those great wines we buy at Costco. But it's much more than that: The food is absolutely wonderful (we really enjoyed the short ribs and expertly prepared seared ahi tuna); the servers and hosts are friendly, accommodating and efficient; the covered outdoor seating is yet another plus. Highly recommend it.
