What a tremendous evening, what a nice surprise, what a great find! The place is beautiful in a cute and funky sort of way, tropical, open-air, comfortable, new, clean, with a view of the ocean sunset that is as good as anyone's. The menu is diverse and everything was great, even the food served at the table next to us! Those ribs! WOW! Well, I had the flat iron pork chop and it was perfectly cooked and juicy, with an apple chutney that was just the right thing for that cut of meat. My wife had the seafood and lobster romaine salad, which was light and hearty at the same time, and again, each item (lobster, scallops, shrimp) was perfect. Her lobster bisque was heaven. The table-side salad is a very nice touch and all of those ingredients were cold and fresh. All the food was obviously high grade. Portions are large. Best food, served casually. Drinks were great too, including the jalapeno margarita. Seriously! Just a hint of spicy heat.

A jazz duo, Angela and Phil Benoit, were playing and singing some of the most pleasant sounds anyone could ask for. Phil is a great jazz guitarist and Angela's voice is from god. They really were the icing on a very sweet cake. Ask Angela to sing Dance Me to the End of Love.

The patrons were a nice mix of locals and visitors. There were families, dates, friends, and everyone was in a great mood, and how could they not be, in a place like this, in a place like this!

The staff was dedicated and friendly. I could go on, but I could also review this place in one word. Perfect.

This place has ribs, seafood, prime rib and other great food. Their house salad is prepared table side and they have a $4.95 keiki (kid) menu. It is outdoors on a second floor of a building with ocean view amongst the trees. Because it is outside, we had an issue with flies while we were eating.

Rita's has a 3 course lunch special for about $12. The entree comes with a soup and dessert. The owner is very personable and will accommodate all dietary restrictions and make you a dish that is not on the menu. The view is amazing as the restaurant is on the second floor. The service is exceptional, very personable servers that understand the customer's desires.

There is a problem with flies if you sit near the parking lot becasue of the number of food places in the shopping center, so ask to be seated further back into the restaurant.

I have eaten at Rita's twice in the last week, once for dinner and once for lunch and I enjoyed both meals, especially lunch today. The lobster bisque is delicious and I really enjoyed my burger. They have really fixed the place up, it is no longer the bar it was when it was Lulu's. Service is great, our server, Susan, was awesome the other night. All in all, Rita's is a welcome addition to Kihei's dining scene.

Had dinner at Rita's, and I must say that the food was delicious. I had the scallops and my son had the filet; we shared the garlic mashed potatoes. The restaurant is a bit quirky in that it is hard to determine whether they are going for an upscale steak and seafood place, or a casual atmosphere.

There is a very large bar in the center of the room with tv's playing and music piped in (speaks "casual"). The servers, although very attentive, are attired very casually. The website, however, would have you believe that this is an "upscale" place. The menu prices reflect this, but the atmosphere does not hold true.

This being said, I will once again state that the food was very good, although somewhat overpriced, with sides being priced separately. The dinner meals come with a tossed salad prepared table-side, which is very old-school and could be done away with. Considering the more casual feel of the restaurant, I would go for a large salad served "family-style" (in a large bowl placed on the table for customers to serve themselves). I would also do away with the separately priced side dishes and simply include a small side with each entree.

As stated in an earlier post, this is newer restaurant. They do still have some bumps to iron out, and I'm sure they will follow through. The restaurant screams "casual" with it's cartoonish images of a crab w/margarita, the tv's above the bar, and the servers attire. Stick with this idea, do away with the table-side salad, and include sides with the entrees. This will help make a successful place!
