“Felt like home.”
Reviewed 18 May 2018 for a stay in April 2018

This is our second stay here and we find it very pleasant and comfortable. Condo is exactly as shown with the addition of a Murphy bed. Kitchen is very modern with all upto date appliances, along with all the best of utensils. Condo is very clean and we had no issues with bugs of any kind. Beach is a five minute walk through the gorgeous grounds. Pool is very clean with lots of lounges, so never a problem finding one. Can’t wait for next year. Yes we have booked again. We love sitting on one of the two lanais coffees or wine in hand. Life just doesn’t get any better than this.

“Huge condo with all you could need for an awesome family vacation!”

We stayed in this unit for the fourth time this late March/early April (2018) and it continues to exceed our expectations. First of all, this condo complex is directly across from Kamaole III beach....a most beautiful beach. Secondly, the condo is huge! There were only two of us this time but it could easily fit six or more. It was immaculately clean when we arrived and well stocked with cleaning supplies.

The condo is equipped far beyond what you would expect in a unit that is available for rent. We rent from VRBO at least four times/year and have lots of experience with this. You can tell that the owners stay there themselves as there are kitchen gadgets for everything, ample dishes, glass wear, pots, pans, serving dishes, towels, bedding, three awesome TV's, etc..

The pool area is tropical and large with numerous deck chairs. We never had a problem securing a lounge chair whenever we went down there. Late Wednesday afternoon there is a Mai Tai party provided courtesy of the ownership group which is fun for all.

The owners are very responsive plus they have on-island property management to address any need. We required a battery for the safe while we were there and had one installed in 10 minutes. That was impressive.

We will definitely be back for trip #5 to this unit next year if it is available!

“Tropical Hawaii and Uninvited Guests”
Reviewed 18 April 2018 for a stay in January 2018

This was a beautifully renovated two-bedroom condominium vacation rental that was fully equipped with all of the essentials and more. Cable flat screened television in both bedrooms and the living room along with internet were excellent amenities. The unit was clean upon our arrival with the exception of some food items left behind in the cupboards and refrigerator which we discarded. As recommended in my evaluation after our two-month stay, January and February 2018, all food should be discarded upon departure as part of the cleaning fee that occupants are charged. All appliances were operable as well as the vacuum cleaner. Unfortunately, this beautiful unit was overshadowed by uninvited guests. That said, my husband and I spent the first two weeks serving as exterminators, given there were tropical bugs (roaches) and what looked liked silver ants... Day one I contacted the owner who calmly told me that bugs are to be expected in tropical climates. My emphatic response to him was “roaches and ants should have been disclosed in the contract. If that language was included, I would have made other plans to seek out another vacation rental. Needless to say, no concessions were made to my expressed concerns and it was too late to void the contract and thus lose our full payment. I’m not sure if Trip Advisor holds any liability regarding this matter. To the owner’s credit, he did indicate the unit, like all units, are exterminated quarterly by the Association. Discarding leftover food could help minimize and/or eliminate infestations. Also, my husband and I were pleased to extend our vacation in another vacation rental on South Kihei for the month of March. To our surprise, the 2-bedroom vacation rental was beautiful, economical, immaculately clean, fully equipped including cable and internet and not a single ant or roach visited us during our monthlong occupancy. So much for the tropical climate and the bug theory. Without the uninvited bug guests, I would have rated this experience a 5 plus....

Management Response
16 May 2018
While we certainly want to share an apology for having found some uninvited guests within the kitchen of our unit, we also want to share that Kamaole Sands has a quarterly pest control program, the service for which is provided by a professional, nationally recognized pest control company. Even with such a proactive program in place, it is simply impossible to completely eliminate pests in a tropical environment such as Maui. The abundance of tropical flora, combined with our climate, cause the occasional presence of pests even in 5-star resorts. This was an isolated incident and it is important all guests get rid of any traces of food on the counter ... crumbs, sugar, sticky residue from sweets can attract ants. Keep food well packaged, and even better, in the fridge. The Costco boxes as well as the brown bags from Safeway can also cause uninvited beetles, the beetles like the glue. These should never be left in the condo. No future guests in 2018 have reported a problem. During your stay if there ever is an issue please contact the property management company.

“Perfect getaway for my wifes birthday”
Reviewed 18 November 2017 for a stay in November 2017

Everything that was promised in the description of the condo was true. It was located right across the street from the park and beach. The only probably that we had was trying to figure out the remotes for the tv. If we ever go back to Maui we will check the availability out.

“Good place to stay on Maui”

Clean place to stay that also felt secure. Low noise. Close to beautiful Kihei beaches. Layout is very comfortable for up to six people. I would go there again. Only drawback is that the parking space assigned to the condo is right by one of the designated smoking areas. So, several times when we pulled up to park people were smoking.

“Wonderful Place”

This was our first time here and I have to admit I was a little skeptical after reading some reviews. I must admit the staff was friendly and the grounds are amazingly clean. The condo we stayed in was very nice and clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The pool was very large and nice and deep compared to others. The hot tub and the therapeutic spa was very nice. I would recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a place outside of a high priced resort. It is located right across from the beach with easy access.

“Excellent condo stocked very well.”

We had 5 people on this trip. This was wonderful for up to 6. My daughter stayed on the Murphy bed and said it was very comfortable. Plenty of space and nicely stocked with a cooler and lawn chairs, a blender, crockpot and plenty of kitchen stuff. The porches were nice, but not on the pretty garden space. They had a great hand book that explained how to run things. The only thing we had trouble with were the TV's. None of us could figure out how to run them well. Even with that the unit gets a five stars. It is beautifully renovated, roomy, and well stocked. Thanks!
