We now know that the word "re-modelled" should appear in the condo ad. The building is older and with the bedroom at the back there is some noise from the trucks going by but not bad. What made us disappointed was unit 213's lack of cleanliness and state of repair. The first morning the kitchen floor was wet from the leaking sink, the cooking utensils were bad, the dishrack filthy, receptacle cover off at the sink, no striker plates on the door jamb, worn bathtub with no drain plug, and more. 3 of these were corrected when we complained but on the 4th day the bathroom smelled of stale urine and you could see that the wall behind the toilet hadn't been cleaned in ages. We bought a few cleaners including Lysol spray but there was so many little things like tattered chair covers and ants everywhere including the rusted stove top that we felt uncomfortable.
We found out that there are several units that have switched from VRO (Kihei Maui Vacations) to CRH or AAOceanfront (who have standards which must be met) and a few of the other units we looked in are nice. Old is OK, as long as it's clean. #213 isn't.

  • Liked — Good location, on beach
  • Disliked — Our unit 213 was filthy and sadly in need of repairs

My husband and I had a wonderful vacation on Maui (3/10 - 3/20/08), staying at the "Hale Kai O'Kihei" in unit # 203. It was just the perfect location to everything; grocery store (Star Market), restaurants, strip malls all within walking distance and the best part is that it is right on the ocean. It's 3 story, small and intimate, has swimming pool, barbecues, shuffle board, shallow beach & if you go at certain months, you can watch the whales right off your balcony. They were very active when we were there. Oh! and by the way, the sunsets are the best!
The airport is just about 20 min away and very easy to find.

If you care to check out their web-site just click on www.aaoceanfront.com and check out availability and the units......
we will be back!

  • Liked — You can eat out or cook in; has all the facilities.......
  • Disliked — early morning noises

We stayed at the condo for one week. Great location and great condo. The only thing that you need to be aware of is that the air conditioning is not strong enough to get to the back bedroom. This makes the master bedroom very hot to sleep in. We suggest a fan in each unit to move the cool air back . Other than that, very enjoyable.

We booked this condo through ebay for a 7 night stay. The front of the building isn't much to look at, but the back opens to the beach. It's a great central location in Kihei. We stayed in unit 119, a one bedroom on the ground floor on the opposite end from the pool. It was newly redecorated and fully stocked with amenities.

Came to Maui for a soccer invitational event.
Stayed in 2 different condos.
Both have oceanfront views.
First condo at 3rd floor...was in bad shape...air conditioner limited to living room (bedroom was hot). Ceiling fan in bedroom was insufficient and making too much noise.
After many complaints about first condo, I moved to a downstairs..recently remodeled. This one was beautifully
decorated. The only problem was the ocean front view was
not as spectacular as the 1st condo.
Location was great....close to a church, grocery, beach, and shopping. No elevator, so if heavy luggage...get assistance.
Coin operated washer and dryer useful for those sweaty uniforms. Beach on property is rocky and full of seaweeds.
Go south for better swimming and surfing.
Wouldn't pay over $100 a day for this place.

If you are looking for a place less traveled, laid-back and quiet with great ocean views- at a great value- this is it. Spectacular views, great whale watching, good swimming beach, We were in a bottom two-bedroom unit, #106. The pool was out front the door, but since it is seldom used noise was not a problem. The unit was very clean, well stocked kitchen dishes and pans, and had nice linens. The furniture was outdated but comfortable, except for the beds. Both bedrooms in this unit back up to the parking lot, but isn't much of a problem because of the quiet neighborhood. This is not a five-star hotel, but if you want to get away from the rest of the tourist hassle- you can't beat this place.
