I was aprehensive about staying here after reading so many bad review, but honestly, check this place out. Very affordable, most people were quite friendly. Stayed in #244, nice clean comfortable unit. Would stay here again anytime!

This unit 138 was an awsome condo unit for two! There was everything we needed! I mean everything. Beach chairs, pads a booogie board, snorkel gear, two coolers, and ice machine in the freezer.... I could go on and on. We never saw a single bug in our unit and we were there for three weeks. It was very quiet, it was at the back of the complex. I would for sure stay in this unit again. The only thing on my wish list would be a washer and dryer in the unit. We loved the people we met there, we made some life long friends! Look for us again!

Booked this condo rental online directly from the property management company. I wasn't expecting much, since it was such an affordable rate. However, it was a dissappointment even with my low expectations.

The POSITIVES: A really quite friendly condo community with birds chirping in the morning, a nice pool, and laundry facilities. Overall, the property was very nice, manicured and in a good location.

The DISSAPPOINTMENT of unit 137: The condo was SO insanely dirty. If you could get past the stench of the cigarette smoke, you will only be reminded because there were cigarette butts under the bed!! It was suppose to be a NON-smoking unit. (We burned candles all day and night to keep the smell tolerable). All the towels and linens were stained. Bring your own. (Don't mind the hair in the bathroom....ew). The carpet hadn't been cleaned in decades, because your feet turned black after walking across it. We had to wear shoes inside. There was a nice layer of grime on the cabinets and the table-tops. And lastly, the back screen door was busted. I've had college dorm rooms cleaner than this place.

There were a few good things about the unit: Everything worked (except the screen door) and the cable tv was nice. Fortunately, the state of this condo forced us to explore SO much more of Maui since we didn't want to spend anytime inside Unit 137. So thanks...I guess?

My husband and I rented unit 149 of Kihei Bay Surf. It was very nicely decorated. It had all the amenities you would need. The appliances were new. The kitchenware was complete. The little outdoor patio was delightful with a Banana Tree just off the patio! It was secluded and romantic and every morning we could hear the birds singing. We were away from the road noice. The pool was very nice and I was able to swim some laps.
The only problem we had was the neighbor next door banged on our wall two nights in a row around 9:00 p.m. when we had our TV on. One time he came to the door and complained. When we opened the door, the neighbors across the way were having guests and they were enjoying themselves and a little loud, also. However, this neighbor didn't care about them! He just wanted to spoil our evening. We didn't feel the walls were that thin! Sadly, it was a damper on our visit.
I have to say, we like KBS so much we want to invest there, however.

Greetings..stayed at the Bay surf in #248 for 2 weeks in june 08. I found the condo to be very clean and well worth the rent. The pool and spa were serviced daily and were a pleasure to use. There was an excellent laundry room on site. Since I was there during the off season, the site was very peaceful and the locals we very helpful if you needed directions or had questions about the area. I would highly recomend this condo to my friends or anyone wanting an inexpencive way to see Maui.

Stayed in Unit 203, 4/26/08-5/3/08, booked through private owner online.

For the price, we were not expecting luxury accomodations, and by all means, if you are expecting that this is not the place for you. However, as we were traveling on a budget, and just looking for a clean place to lay our heads at night, change and shower, and this place fit that perfectly. It was an excellent home base to tour the island.

Additionally the beach across the street, while not the best beach on the island, was sheltered from the surf by a lava rock wall, and appeared to be an excellent spot for little ones to swim in the ocean.

Our unit was recently renovated, with all new appliances, and was extremely clean. We did not have any problems with insects in the kitchen, but did see a few in the bathroom. Not a huge problem by any means, as this is the tropics and was not expecting to be insect free.

Yes, it was on busy Kihei Road, and the road noise was pretty loud. However, since most of out time was spent out and about, and by the time we returned to the condo at night, we were too tired to have it bother us.

So to summarize, we got what we paid for. At $600 a week, it was perfect for our needs. But, if you are looking for someplace to lay by the pool, and tons of amenities, then this is not the place for you.

We booked unit 208 from Jan 19 thru March 2, 2008. The advertising said it was upstairs with no sound from above which implied it was a quiet condo. We both had stressful summers and envisioned hours of reading and studying on the lanai. What wasn't mentioned was that the unit was right on the edge of a busy street. If you have a freeway that runs through your bedroom, then you will be prepared for continuous noise that reverberates through the unit from early morning until late at night. To communicate across the lanai table we had to yell at each other. In six weeks, we spent less than an hour total outside. We had to keep the air conditioner on for cooling and to combat the outside noise 24/7. I was unable to sleep more than two continuous hours the entire time! The unit was filthy. I had white sox on when we arrived and a round trip the length of the unit blackened the bottoms! There was no mop, so we bought one. When we wrung the mop out it kept producing bunches of long black hairs. I'm gray and my wife is blond! There was a huge (basketball size) grease spot on the living area mirror and the same size oil stain on the couch back. All the mirrors were dirty. All the floors were dirty. You could write on dirt under the bed. There were moulded coffee grounds in the coffee pot. There were ants all over the kitchen so we had to do a thorough cleaning and buy ant traps. The refer was ancient and rusted. The doors were missing from most of the kitchen cabinets. The glasses were well worn plastic, the can opener was rusted beyond use, the frying pan was shot. We bought glasses, a frying pan, mop, and plunger (the toilet stpped up and the owner replaced it). The white pillows were stained brown so we bought new ones. The floors, besides being filthy, were like walking on a trampoline. To say the laminate floors were amateurishly installed is an absolute insult to the amateur carpenters of the world. Large gaps between many of the planks (to gather dirt).
The grounds are rundown and poorly maintained. Dead undergrowth in all the shrubbery and the buildings are years beyond needing a paint job. The whole appearance is of a slum.

The pool was clean but the chairs were dirty. Only one of the two BBQ's functioned. The units that front the street are 101 thru 110, 201 thru 210, 150 thru 159, 250 thru 259. The entire time we met only one other couple who would consider returning to this dump and they were staying in a recently remodeled unit far from the road. We were in the Islands for three months and the rest of the trip was great. Do yourself a favor and keep looking.
