“Worth every penny”
Reviewed 9 January 2009

We just got back from 2 weeks on Maui. I chose the Koa because of the good reviews on Trip advisor and every word I've read was true.

My mum cam too and stayed in 102 and my husband, me and our 2 small children stayed in 206. 102 was on round and 206 was 1 floor up which meant we had the best of both worlds haveing access to the lawned area infromt of the apprtments direct from the ground floor appartment during the day, and then being able to enjoy the gorgeous sun sets every evening from the 1st floor appartment.

They were both clean, well equipped, well maintained and very comfortable with both air conditioning and ceiling fans. The kitchen facilities all worked well and were clean and when the toaster in my mum's broke it was replaced the very next day.

The location in Kihei is one of the best we saw driving around. Kihei does not have a lot to see by itself although it has some great beaches for snorkling. However its quite a sprawling town and so to get from one end to the other is quite a hike if you don't have a car. There is a main road that runs the length of the town and can get quite busy and so having the Koa Lagoon on the beach side of the road meant we didn't have to navigate the road and our eldest (7 yrs old) could be left to safely run accross the lawn and over the dune to the beach. There is also a private pool .

Great value for money and very friendly would recommend to anyone looking for good value accommodation on Maui. The only thing I would say is that the road running through Kihei is busy and sometimes noisy so if you cant sleep with noise don't stay in Kihei in general!

This was our second trip to Maui and stay at Koa Lagoon in 14 months. Loved it there both times. Quiet and peaceful location. All the people we met while there have been very friendly. Staff of Koa Lagoon is always friendly and will go out of their way to help you in any way.
We will definitely stay there on our next trip without any hesitation.

Aloha!

We spent 5 days at the Koa Lagoon, and had a great time. The unit (201) was a spacious 2-bedroom, 2-bath with large kitchen, family room, laundry facilities, and lanai. I woke up every morning to a gorgeous sunset, and postcard-perfect views of the ocean - heavenly! I loved hearing the calming rhythmic sound of the ocean waves every day. The beach in front of the condo was well maintained, and I went for a nice run every morning. I did not go swimming there, but the pool was very nice. Linda Barron, the on-site manager, was very helpful and gave some good tips. There is an ancient fish pond next door that acts like an enclosed salt-water swimming pool, and is open to the public. She also told us about Laperouse Bay, which is a beautiful beach south of Wailea that is covered by lava rock - very cool! Kihei is a good central location to the airport, Lahaina, Ka'anapali, Haleakala, and Hana, and it seems to be where many of the locals live. We found several good eating places, but not within walking distance other than McDonalds. The Koa Lagoon is a reasonably priced, clean, well-maintained, small condominium complex. The only negatives for us were its proximity to Kihei road in the back, and the lack of a fitness center. But keeping the A/C and fans on minimized the noise, and we managed to get plenty of exercise. Overall it was a wonderful experience for our family of 4, and we are already talking about returning someday!

  • Liked — Privacy and quaintness, proximity to uncrowded beach
  • Disliked — Near Kihei Road, no fitness center

We were looking for a comfortable Condo with easy beach access and the comforts of home for our family of four - and we found it at Koa Lagoon! Casual and very quiet, we watched sunsets like we have never before seen from the lanai. All units are ocean view, and there is no street to cross to get to the beach. The beach there is great for walking and finding seashells. The condo was clean and there were plenty of items left by the owners that made our stay easier - ice chests, boogie boards, beach chairs, etc. There' s a pool, and clean, gas BBQs. Only about a half mile to grocery stores, chain drug store, restaurants (including fast food chains, if you are into that), snorkel rental places. The condos are on the north part of town, so it is a couple mile down the road to great snorkeling and the "busy" part of Kihei, but it was worth it because we got to return to the quiet of Koa Lagoon! The on-site property management company was great to work with - excellent communication making reservations and throughout!

  • Liked — Quiet, quiet, quiet - and clean!
  • Disliked — The beach is not suitable for leisure swimming - very rocky as it gets deep

We stayed on the 5th floor at Koa Lagoon. Wow! Much better than expected. Our condo was clean, nicely furnished and oh so comfortable. This was a great place to explore Maui from. This condo even had a cooler, games and other things to help a family. Highly recommended!

We stayed at condo #202 for a week and had one of the most memorable vacations. The condo was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. It was indeed a home away from home. The views from lanai, especially in the mornings and evenings were amazing. The owners have taken care of every small thing a guest might need. We had beach towels, beach chair, books and puzzles for our kid. The communication with property manager Linda Barron was very clear and prompt. She recommended a concierge service and the person from that service named RW is very knowledgeable. His recommendations are good, however, you can find the better priced deals at other places e.g. Expedia local travel experts give a very good deal on helicopter ride which is equally good. The beach next to Koa lagoon is rocky and not very clean but all the good beaches are a few minutes away.

Koa lagoon is undoubtedly one of the best places to stay in Maui and we will love to return to this beautiful place on our next vacation at Maui.
