Just got back from hopping around the Islands... Koa Lagoon was by far the best of our stays! Peaceful, quite, felt like being home. If you are looking for the quite getaway with the very best views of tranquility... Koa Lagoon #503. Mahalo

Very well-run but laid-back older Kihei condominium project that makes the very most of its location. Koa Lagoon appears to date back to the 1970s, but a good maintenance program, a forgiving environment, and good original design combine to shave years off the building. Top-of-the-line views from the lanais complement a wonderful side-entrance unit design that avoids the usual "hallway-past-the-bedrooms-to-the-living-space" layout, and gives a very gracious and spacious feel to the units which, though smaller than more recently constructed condos, seem much larger. Lanais can have a quirky design that somewhat limits their usefulness, but there is still room for four or more to dine comfortably. The kitchen, in particular, was well thought-out with enough room for two-to-three people to work simultaneously. The entrances to the units are laid out to create a sense of privacy that many projects of this vintage lack, and the elevator was particularly welcome in this 6-story building. Koa Lagoon, like all other buildings to the south, are set back from the ocean by 200-300 hundred feet (perhaps because the land was created by dredging?) but this does not detract from the views. The neighboring project, Menehune Shores, is built right to the shoreline, but its bulk does not compromise the views greatly and the landscaping minimizes the visual impact of that very large structure. Much is made of the seaweed and beach problem at Koa Lagoon but we observed several swimmers and kayakers in the water. There is no surf to speak of and with so many world-class beaches only minutes away, we came to prefer the beach since it does not attract more than one or two visitors at any time adding to the peacefulness and serenity that seems to be the hallmark of this area. The site forces the building to be very close to Kihei road which has become much noisier in recent years due to increasingly numbers of knob-tired pick-ups and SUVs. Luckily, the units have window A/C units in each bedroom, the noise of which completely drown out any road noise--we slept perfectly. Overall the project has limited, though attractive gardens, and a miniature koi pond which was probably deemed exotic in 1975 and is now just quaintly interesting. The staff is friendly, helpful, efficient, accommodating, and non-intrusive again adding to the "we'll-leave-you-alone" atmosphere that my family came to love. Central Kihei location puts the entire island in easy driving distance and necessary shopping is close-by (Safeway at the Pi'ilani Plaza and Star Market at Kihei and Lipoa), though it is a distance to the nightclubs and bars at Kalama Center. Peaceful and tranquil, hard to give the property andything other than a top-rating.

We stayed at the Koa Logoon in June 2007. We stayed in condo 402 and had an absolutely wonderful time. Great location, nicely decorated, good price, not crowded. Huge, Huge lanai that we spent most of our time on. Linda Barron at the Realty Office was wonderful to deal with. Condo owners had beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, snorkle, fins, mask, beach mats etc all ready for us to use. Beaches great, excellent snorkling. Don't expect to swim at the condo beach as there is a seaweed problem, they do clean it up every morning, we had no problem with any bad smells. Condo pool and access to gas grills excellent.
If we do decide to go back to Maui, we will absolutely stay there again. We highly recommend this property to all.

  • Liked — Location, price, excellent Realty Service
  • Disliked — That we had to leave, Not having a really great swimming beach at the condo

Been looking for a long time for a place to stay in Maui, and finaly found it on this site, thanks for all the comments on this place. Its really amazing, got the perfect little place for what we needed.
Amazing view of the beach, Very well equipped. All you need is to go shopping for some food and stock up your fridge.
We rented a car and went to the wailea beach every other day because the beach over there is better. Other than that, amazing location. Close to everything, stores, airport, wailea, lahaina and haleakala. Kihei is almost in the center if you wanna tour Maui. Be sure to say Hi to Linda who was a lot of help in finding anything you need on this beautiful Island, we will definetly skip the hotels and stay there next time we go. we did not hear any streets noises as marked in other reviews.

Spent 9 days in unit 603. You could not find a better view. Condo was superb, condition off all items was new of like new. Everything you would need is provided. Management was helpful and timely with needs. Location was quiet, yet close to anything needed. You will not find better location on island. The sunsets are what we will miss the most. We already miss then. We will definetly use this resort again and even are planning another trip with our kids, all grown.

We went to Maui for my brother's Memorial Day wedding and stayed at the Koa Lagoon for a week. We were in #609 with beautiful view and a comfortable relaxing time. Our condo was fully equiped with everything we could need including beach chairs and towels, all dishware, books and games etc. The grounds were beautiful and the beach view breathtaking. The beach was rocky but no seaweed to speak of. I loved watching the kite surfers right outside my window! The pool was deserted for my son and I everytime we visited but warm and inviting. Having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with 2 adults and teenagers was a blessing. Plenty of room and plenty of privacy.

My wife and I got married in Maui on May 19th and we stayed at Koa Lagoon our entire trip, from May 16th through May 26th. The condo is awesome. We stayed in #503 and it was beautiful. The view from the lanai was the best I've ever experienced at any resort or hotel. You get a view of the mountains (old volcano) and the ocean. On most days you can see some of the other islands across the ocean. The condo is very large and it felt just like home. The kitchen came in very handy for when we were tired and could just put something in the oven, instead of having to drive to a restaurant. The air conditioners kept the place cool so that we were comfortable at night. The living room was large with plenty of seating and a cable television set. They also let you call anywhere on the island for free from the phones that are provided. The only thing that was missing from the condo was a hairdryer, and they don't supply those anymore because too many people accidentally left with them. Also, the property manager, Linda, is a very nice lady, if you have any questions, just ask her and she'll give you information about places on the island. Overall, we absolutely loved our trip and our stay at Koa Lagoon. We are already talking about our next trip, and our next stay.
