Owner description: Ulupalakua is home to MauiWine which offers one of the Islands' most enticing products - wines that carry the essence of Hawai'i, the spirit of Maui. MauiWine welcomes you to taste the fruit of the island in wines made from their 23 acre vineyard on the slopes of Haleakala, as well as the tropical wines made from the famed Maui Gold pineapples - all grown right here in Upcountry Maui. Visitors to MauiWine gather in the tasting room located in the King's Cottage, built in 1874 specifically for the celebrated visits of King Kalakaua, last reigning King of Hawai'i. Guests are invited to follow in the footsteps of Ali'i (royalty) and Paniolo (cowboys) on a guided tour of the historical grounds. A journey into Ulupalakua's illustrious past, a tour of the Makee estate, and a glimpse at the creation of Maui wines are all a part of the experience. Welcome to Ulupalakua... where the storied history blends with modern day agriculture, creating the perfect setting for the islands only winery and vineyard. Time Well Spent

“Maui Winery worth the drive ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2014 via mobile

The Tedeschi Maui Winery is picturesque. Warning - the road to reach it is narrow and windy. If you will be wine tasting please take a designated driver. And if you think you missed the winery keep going. You can't miss it. There are areas in which to stop along the way to enjoy the view of the south shore and Molokini Crater. Be sure to take it all in.

“another stop on upcountry tour”

My husband and I made a day of up country while on Maui. We stopped by the winery. You get three tastings for free. They have nine wines for a taste. If you share you can sample six of their nine. They have a candy they only sell at the winery. At the end of your tasting you get a sample. We purchased two boxes as gifts and the receivers have enjoyed them. Like any winery some are good some are not but the pineapple is something different to try. Everyone's taste buds are different. I appreciate the effort and the ability to go to a winery in another state. If you make a day of up country this is worth a stop. If you drive all this way for it know the limits of Hawaii liquor laws. It is a pretty drive on a windy road. The grounds are pretty as well. I love what they did to their dying trees. Extremely clean bathroom as well. If back on Maui we would probably come again.as nice comparing states. They have a candy they only sell at the winery. At the end of your tasting you get a sample. “Don't buy their wine here... it's far cheaper elsewhere on the island!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2014

While this winery is fun to visit I cannot understand why they are now charging the prices that they are. My wife and I first visited here 2 years ago and at that time their Maui Splash and Maui Blanc Pineapple wines were $11.99 per bottle. The wine is absolutely amazing and we have drank cases over the past two years but now they have raised their prices to $ 14 a bottle or $ 12 a bottle if you by a case. You can go to Whole Foods and buy it for $ 11.99 a bottle and get 20 percent off if you buy 6 bottles or go to Safeway and just pay $9.99 with their membership card.

Come on Tedeschi... stop gouging your customers please! You have a great product but this is ridiculous! Your new "sparkling" pineapple wine at $ 24.99 at your winery can be bought at Whole Foods down the road for $ 17.99 and 20 percent off that if you mix and match 6 bottles. That's just wrong on your part. Please make this right for the sake of your reputation. We were embarrassed for you when we were there and saw the discrepancy. Not good business at all!

“Definetly worth the trip.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 May 2014

My husband and I stopped here for about an hour. We tasted the wine and enjoyed the gift shop. We did not do a tour but I'm sure it would have been great. The wine was really yummy and the WHITE CHOCOLATE MACADAMIA NUT PINEAPPLE WINE INFUSED chocolates are AMAZING!! I took a bottle of wine and few boxes home for friends. This is a great place to get some gifts for main land friends.

“Kind of meh...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2014 via mobile

Very pretty drive up country with spectacular views as you driveup to the winery. It's a small General store kind of a tourist trap with huge crowds. The tasting is a joke with pineapple wine and mediocre wine. Best tip.... find the banana bread lady's stand on the way up.
